46 years since the first landing on the moon, and in Russia they wonder where the film and soil samples have gone

NASA already admitted in 2009 that some of the reels were deleted for re-use, but most of the segments were recovered from the television broadcasts. As for the moonstones - they surely reside in Houston

Russia is demanding the establishment of an international commission of inquiry to look into some of the mystery surrounding the Apollo moon landings between 1969 and 1972, Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the Kremlin's official commission of inquiry, suggested in a newspaper article this week. Elizabeth.

The article was mostly devoted to what Markin calls excessive interference in the affairs of other countries, due to the investigations she is conducting against FIFA officials (which is investigating, among other things, the suspicion that Russia paid bribes to FIFA officials to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup).

But the part of his article, at least according to the translation on the websiteMoscow TimesHe refers to a completely different period, the period of the space race during the Cold War between the USA and the Soviet Union. As an example, Mirkin demands the establishment of a committee to investigate where the photographic films that documented large parts of the first landing on the moon on Binui 20, 1969 have gone, or at least to explain where the almost 400 kilograms of rocks brought by the astronauts on the six Apollo missions, and which according to Mirkin have disappeared.

In correspondence with the conspiracy theories that doubt that NASA even landed on the moon, Mirkin writes: "We are not claiming that they did not fly to the moon, and simply directed a film about the landing, but are dealing with a scientific question and perhaps also a cultural one - these exhibits are part of the grief of all humanity and their disappearance without a trace is A loss to all of us. An investigation will reveal what really happened," writes Markin.

In 2009, NASA admitted that large parts of the original recordings of the first landing had been deleted, but said that they were able to recover large parts of them from the original television broadcasts of the landing.

As for the approximately 380 kilograms of lunar rocks that came to Earth from the NASA spacecraft that landed on the moon, most of these rocks are stored at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Some of them can be seen in several museums around the world.

  1. It's enough to see President Nixon talking to the astronauts on a landline phone with the dial remember? Haha joke when they talk wirelessly from a distance of 400000 km sad joke imaginations are free
    Haha deleted for reuse…..bad joke

I don't know if you noticed or not. This is the website of the LRO. If you look at the pictures in it, you can also see the pictures that Nissim was talking about.

Regarding traveling there, I prefer to give up, at least for now. I'm a spoiled brat and prefer places with normal services.

This is a detail I do not know. On the other hand, I know that the MRO spacecraft photographed traces of the wheels of the SUVs on Mars. I have these photographs

This picture is beautiful and impressive. I see her for the first time. I want to wear a space suit and travel there. Want to join me? I hope I don't need a green card. Passport probably yes.

  4. The LRO has already photographed parts of spacecraft left on the moon. He even photographed footprints on the lunar soil...

Years ago they tried to aim the Hubble telescope at the moon and the resolution was 70 meters per pixel. This is the maximum possible. To see in a higher resolution, you can only see a spacecraft orbiting the moon. By the way, the MRO spacecraft orbiting Mars has a resolution of 25 cm per pixel. I assume that if such a spaceship was put into orbit around the moon at an altitude of 100 km, for example, it would already be able to distinguish the spaceships that remained on the moon, including the landing pads of the Apollo spaceships, and perhaps distinguish their various parts. The Israeli spy satellites of the Ofek series are able to distinguish the movement of cars on roads. Imagine such spacecraft orbiting the moon, what can be seen. Every lunar explorer's wet dream.

It is not true that you can point one of the big telescopes at the moon and photograph what is left of the landing sites. They don't have a separation capacity big enough for you to distinguish the things left there.

  7. Tapes were diverted for reuse due to institutional bureaucracy and myopia. But there are many video clips that were broadcast on television channels and these were kept by the channels. In addition there are many photos taken on film. In principle, it is possible to point one of the large telescopes at the moon and photograph what remains of the landing sites, but those who claim that the moon landings were fabricated will then claim that the new images are also fabricated.

  8. Does anyone know how the original recordings were deleted? How could something like this, which should be protected from any guard, be deleted "accidentally"?

How does such a thing happen?

  9. It's just like the one who said (after the Pope said that Muslims are murderers) "Whoever says I'm a murderer, I'll kill him." So the Russians get angry that FIFA is investigating the bribery matter, and declare that it is an interference in their private affairs (bribery is probably normal in Russia if it is backed by the Kremlin), and as revenge they offer to interfere in the private affairs of the Americans!
I think the scientist should not translate what comes out of the mouth of the "spokesman of the Kremlin's official investigative committee", which is all pure propaganda. There are enough delusional types who claim that there was no landing on the moon, and no films from the event will convince them, and the scientist does not translate them. It is interesting that the Russians are hanging on at straws like this to cover up the bribery issue in FIFA.
