A suborbital rocket carrying NASA experiments exploded yesterday, Friday, 27 seconds after launch from Wallops Island in Virginia. The ATK (Alliant Tech Systems) missile took off after no visible problems were diagnosed at 05:10 am local time.

NASA stated that no property was damaged and no one was injured, but conflicting reports were received regarding the discovery of remains of the missile on the ground. NASA believes that most of the debris fell into the Atlantic Ocean.

"NASA is disappointed by the failure but is focusing its efforts on protecting public safety and has begun a comprehensive investigation to identify the root cause of the failure." said in a NASA announcement. The agency gathered an interdisciplinary team together with senior officials from the ATK company headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, to begin the investigation. The payload included five experiments designed to measure conditions in supersonic flight, an air-based engine and a missile recovery system for reuse.

  1. "A suborbital rocket carrying NASA experiments exploded yesterday, Friday, 27 seconds after launch" is a joke.. 27 seconds?! This means that sending the missile was negligent in itself..
Miraculously, no one was hurt, and in the least pleasant case, no one was killed.
If it can endanger human life, the option of "and God forbid repeats ad infinitum" is better.

  2. Yanon:
What separates those who succeed in the end from those who do not is often the motivation.
If you are motivated enough to understand that failure can be used to learn lessons and improve to increase the probability of success next time, then your chances of eventually succeeding increase.
A person who loses motivation as a result of failure will not get very far, usually.

Regarding your offer to invest another day or two in testing - I guess it's a joke because even after spending another day or two it can be offered and God forbid it repeats ad infinitum.

  3. "After no visible problems were diagnosed in him"
    what's burning
Invest in the tests in another day or two..

  4. A. Ben Ner:
What you describe is in my opinion the necessity of reality.
After all, we strive for success and not failure.
When you launch a missile to a certain target, you want it to get there and not get tired on the way.
I do not see, therefore, how a situation will arise in which they will love the failure.
On the other hand - the situation is not so bad because in failure there are always hints on the way to improvement and success.
That is why people still try even when they are not sure of the result, but we must not forget the fact that all the value of failure comes from the fact that it brings us closer to success.

  5. Unfortunately, not only space exploration is fraught with failures,
The entire scientific process, in all branches of research, is riddled with failures. Many times failure is the guide
to success It is very cruel because there are no rewards for failures. In the ratings culture, which favors El Al only the winner in first place or only the first discoverer, there is supposedly no room for a second or a mistake
However, from the philosophical-moral point of view, the value of the "first" exists only by virtue of the second, third and fourth
And the value of the "first revealer" exists only thanks to all the wrongdoers
before him Correct me with I'm wrong.

  6. It is clear that if there was an experiment with an air-based engine, then someone with interests in continuing to sell oil, caused the explosion

  7. I wrote it yesterday afternoon. Next time, go in more towards the evening and be less upset in the morning. Good Day.

  8. to the point
You really didn't understand! Where on earth do you find that I wish them success?
On second thought, I think your story is different:- You understood my words well but are trying to slander as you usually do, so I understand that you continue in your wicked ways?

Upsetting to meet a disgusting response like yours this morning.

So anyway, we wish everyone a good morning

  9. Yehuda, I didn't quite understand,
Do you hope that in the end the Iranians will succeed in launching the missile, because then we will have a good excuse to destroy them. Or because you just love people who wish you dead?

  10. Not only are the American athletes screwing up in the Olympics one after the other now also their space capabilities are declining, America's empire is in retreat.

  11. Space exploration includes many failures - this is true, and we, as mentioned, also failed.
More than that - 100 years ago we didn't even dare to try.
    So what?
Does that mean we shouldn't be happy that our chances of being hit by an Iranian missile, at least at this point, are low?

  12. For all those rejoicing over the failure of the Iranian missile, it should be understood that space exploration includes many failures and those who persevere may eventually succeed. Do you also remember Ofek 5? Not to mention Colombia and others.

Let's hope it will be good in the end

  13. "System for returning missiles for reuse"
    Ironic, isn't it?
Also somewhat similar to Iranian 🙂
