Poster design competition for the Researchers' Night 2010 project

The European Union, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the research institutions participating in the project, announce the opening of a poster design competition for the Researchers' Night 2010 project as part of the pan-European competition to design this poster.

Researchers' Night is a night of diverse scientific events and activities, including meetings with scientists, night tours on science and nature, demonstrations, workshops, sessions and many diverse activities suitable for the whole family. On this evening, the research institutions and science museums open their doors to the general public free of charge. This event takes place throughout Europe and in Israel, for the fourth year, in the month of September, with the aim of bringing the general public closer to the community of researchers, bringing new research to the public and stimulating interest in the various scientific topics.

The posters, which will be selected in the first places in the competition in Israel (stage 2010), will go to the pan-European competition (stage XNUMX), and a panel of judges in the European Union will choose the winning poster in the general competition, which will be used as the official poster of Researchers' Night in all of Europe for XNUMX.

The poster should illustrate the goals of the Researchers' Night project. And it is recommended (not mandatory) to incorporate elements from the European Union logo and the Researchers' Night project logo. The captions on the poster will appear in the English language only.

The design competition will be held in two tracks: Track A - for students and the general public. Track B - for students in higher education institutions for art and design and for practitioners in the field of design. In each track, three posters will be chosen, who will advance to stage B of the competition.

Submission format: The proposals will be submitted in digital format only - PDF or JPEG files, with a resolution that will allow high-quality printing in A3 size. The proposals will be sent by email to the address: logo@most.gov.il. You can submit more than one offer, each offer will be sent in a separate email. In the subject line of the email, it must be stated "Poster design competition for the Researchers' Night 2010 project" and the route of participation. The proposals must be submitted by August 16.8.2009, XNUMX. Proposals that arrive after the deadline and that do not comply with the competition rules will be rejected.
The judging team for the competition includes representatives from among the announcers and well-known representatives in the fields of design and art. The works will be presented to the jury anonymously. The members of the judging team will not participate in this competition. The judging session will take place within two weeks of the last day for submission of bids. The competition in Israel is coordinated by Prof. Uri Mar-Chaim, Dr. Irit Wertheim, Dr. Zvi Peltiel and Hadassah Greenberg-Yaakov from the partner institutions in the project.

The announcement of the winners and the presentation of the works in the exhibition will take place as part of the opening of the Sages events also at night 2009, which will be held on September 24, 2009. The works will also be presented in exhibitions at the institutions participating in the project and on the website of the Ministry of Science.
The mere participation in the competition gives the European Union the copyright in the posters. Minor changes can and will be made to the winning poster, including adding text and symbols. Posters can and will be used by the European Union for educational and informational purposes. The poster will be used while giving credit to the creators of the poster. It should be emphasized that the competition does not carry monetary prizes. Participating in the competition and winning it will provide the winning designer with publicity and distribution of the winning poster along with his name throughout Europe, with all that implies.
