A robot for solving puzzles, the fruit of development by students at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at Ben-Gurion University was one of the many attractions that focused the attention of the participants of the Innovation 2013 conference held at the university this past weekend. The development of the students Roi Nagar and Aral Nadav, under the guidance of Dr. Rami Hajaj and Prof. Ohad Ben Shahar, Accompanied by a light clip that illustrated the amazing performance of the robot.

One of the visitors to the event is the CEO of Google Israel, Meir Brand, who said: "Those who want to know what innovation is don't need to look it up on Google." He just needs to come here, to Ben-Gurion University. And basically, everything starts and ends with passion. The amazing projects you see here are the result of passion, that intense passion that drives the students to curiosity and action, the results of which you see at this amazing conference."

The innovation conference, in which about 550 engineering and technological ventures and developments were revealed, was attended by personalities from the high-tech industry in Israel, including Google Israel CEO Meir Brand, Yehuda Brunitsky, the founder and owner of Ormat, senior vice president for technological excellence at Elbit, Haim Russo, the chief scientist of Ministry of Economy, Avi Hasson and Chairman of Bank Hapoalim Yair Sarosi. During the conference, in which the university administration led by the president, Prof. Rivka Karmi, took part, the Elbit company launched the Incubit incubator and presented for the first time to a wide audience the smart helmet for pilots.

Among the technological ventures that stood out at the innovation conference can be named the autonomous control system for an underwater robot, a system for reading lip movements for Piyum Kana patients, a system for learning a foreign language by watching movies with subtitles and games, examining an interface for an infantry soldier who receives information from unmanned tools, management Parking spaces using an image, facial expression analysis with computer vision, a robot for locating rescue teams, an autonomous submarine, a system for displaying and analyzing medical indicators in the intensive care unit at Hadassah Hospital, an accessory for rehabilitation after hip replacement surgery, and more.

The high-tech man, Dr. Yossi Vardi, who has followed the conference closely for years and stood out with his presence this time as well, recently wrote the following about it: Fourth year at Ben-Gurion University. Every year I return home with a renewed charge of optimism, enthusiasm, admiration and hope. Hundreds of graduates stand in the foyers of the various departments of the university and present on tables and posters hundreds of projects in the fields of communication, software, robots, biomedicine, chemistry, and others. They are full of energy and sparkle in their eyes. The air is full of electricity. They present thoughts, originality, innovative and groundbreaking ideas. When I see them I am not afraid, neither of China nor of India. Israel at its best."
