The Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv University elected Prof. Jacob Frankel as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for a second term. The Board of Trustees decided to overwhelmingly adopt the recommendation of the search committee headed by Prof. Haim Ben Shahar.
Prof. Frankel, former governor of the Bank of Israel and laureate of the Israel Prize for Economics, serves as chairman of JPMorgan Chase International Bank and chairman of the board of trustees of the "Group of Thirty" (G-30). In the past, Prof. Frankel served, among other things, as head of the Weisfeld Chair at Tel Aviv University and as head of the Rockefeller Chair at the University of Chicago.
The president of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Yosef Klefter, congratulated Prof. Frankel and said that he is convinced that he will continue to contribute his many skills to the development of Tel Aviv University.
Prof. Yaakov Frankel thanked the Board of Trustees for the trust they placed in him, this is the second time, and said that he will continue to work for the positioning of Tel Aviv University as one of the leading academic institutions in Israel and the world.
One response
It should be remembered that F. Frankel saved the economy in Israel from a catastrophic situation, of a situation of terrible inflation and devaluations, and draconian laws regarding the foreign currency, and managed to curb the promiscuity practiced by the ministers of finance and the governments before him in the foreign exchange rates and the inflation of the shekel.
On the other hand, like many, he was wrong about predicting the bursting of the real estate bubble in the United States and "ate it" because of that... It's a shame he didn't listen to another Jew at the time, Nouriel Roubini, who predicted the fall exactly.
But there is no doubt that he is above your level, a great person and a worthy appointment.
