Tal Schneider and Avi Blizovsky - winners of an award for excellence in digital journalism on behalf of the Association of Journalists and Google

Avi Blizovsky received the award for the digital journalistic project "Hidan", which he established in 1997. Journalists Tal Schneider and Avi Blizovsky are the winners of the award for excellence in digital journalism initiated by the Tel Aviv Journalists Association and Google. The prize will be awarded to them as part of the 2012 Eilat press conference in the presence of 1500 members of the media

The Association of Journalists in Tel Aviv will award journalists Tal Schneider and Avi Blizovsky the award for excellence in digital journalism, as part of the 2012 Eilat Journalism Conference. The purpose of the award, which is sponsored by Google, is to indicate excellence, innovation and originality, in the use of the Internet to enhance storytelling and journalistic coverage.
Tal Schneider received the award for the "group"  - An innovative political blog published in collaboration with "Haaretz" and the "Salona" website. Among other things, the website maps the various candidates in preparation for the upcoming elections, and makes available to the surfers the political story of the parties, about their prominent activists, while giving the surfers the possibility to browse on digital maps the places around the country from which the candidates come.

Avi Blizovsky received the award for the digital journalistic project "the scientist", founded by him in 1997. This is a news site dedicated to innovations in the field of science, space, environmental quality, nanotechnology, and more. The site is highly regarded by the scientific establishment in Israel.

The winners will each receive a grant of NIS 7,500 for the development of their journalistic initiatives, as well as a certificate for winning the award.

The prizes will be awarded to the winners as part of the main evening, which will take place on November 5 at the Eilat Press Conference 2012.
This is the sixth year of the existence of the Eilat Journalism Conference by the Tel Aviv Journalists Association together with Tel Aviv University and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, between the dates of November 4-7 at the conference center of the Eilat "Harrods" palaces of the Fatal network. About 1500 members of the media, journalists, ministers, Knesset members, speakers and public relations personnel, academics and economists are expected to take part in the conference.

    As someone who is close to some of the topics you write about, I enjoy saying that you manage to transfer even complex topics into the language of 'non-scientists' without harming the scientific correctness of things. This is neither a simple nor an easy task because it requires a thorough understanding of the subject being written about.
