The members of the crew of the shuttle Endeavor on mission STS-118, and the 15th crew of the International Space Station began preparations for the fourth spacewalk. The ten astronauts and cosmonauts also held the traditional press conference for members of the shuttle and station crews.
The mission managers on behalf of NASA finally decided on Thursday that the fourth spacewalk of the STS-118 crew, will not include repair of the heat shield. Father, do you have any idea why they made such a fuss about whether to fix it or not? Why couldn't they just fix and thereby remove this cloud over our heads? Are spacewalks so dangerous that the calculated risk of a spacewalk is greater than the calculated risk of something happening back into the atmosphere? Or maybe the astronauts are not qualified for this kind of repairs at all?
