In the discussion that took place yesterday (Fri) chaired by the Minister of Health and with the participation of the ministry's professionals, the polio committee, representatives of the CTM, representatives of the laboratories, doctors from various fields and academia, the complex situation of the ongoing presence of the polio virus in the sewage systems in Israel was discussed.
At the meeting, it was decided that the Ministry of Health will expand the vaccination campaign to the whole country, and will prepare to open the milk drops for the vaccination starting the week of August 18, during the regular opening hours, and will call on parents to bring their children for the vaccination.

The samples in the sewage from last week indicate the presence of the virus in additional tests conducted at the sewage treatment facilities of Lod and Ramla. Sample results from additional settlements where polio viruses were discovered are expected to be received in the coming days. Polio virus was not detected in all the other mechs from the center and north of the country.
The stool tests were completed by about 80% and 28 carriers were found, of which 26 were vaccinated children up to the age of 10, a baby younger than 70 months and an adult about XNUMX years old. The carriers are all from the southern region. An update was given to the families.

The complex situation according to which a segment of the population born after 2005 which is not vaccinated against polio carriers, may be a reservoir for the spread of the virus, and in light of the continued presence in the repeated tests in the Ramla Lod area and other police stations, led the professionals to the decision to provide supplementary vaccination in drops (OPV) of Israeli children who were born after 1.1.2004 throughout the country.
