The source of the solar wind was discovered

The Japanese space telescope Hinoda discovered that from the edge of the bright activity zones hot gas erupts at high speed. An international team of scientists has discovered how solar wind is created. At the National Astronomy Conference (NAM 2008) in Belfast, Professor Lewis Hera of London's National Space Laboratory explained how scientists used the space shuttle Hinoda to analyze the origin of the solar wind in the Sun.

The solar wind consists of electrically charged particles that flow out from the sun in all directions. During a strong eruption, the solar wind may have a great effect on the magnetic field of KDA. Starting with spectacular phenomena such as the northern and southern lights and ending with destructive interference in the electronic systems of space satellites, sometimes the strength of the solar wind can penetrate the protective mantle of the Earth and even disrupt electronic networks on the ground.

Since its launch into space in the fall of 2006, the Japanese spacecraft "Hinoda" has been used by scientists to study the Sun in an unprecedented way. Using a device called an ultraviolet simulation spectrometer they were able to measure the speed of the flow of matter from the sun out.

The sun is a kind of cauldron of hot gas shaped by magnetic fields that create bright areas of activity on the surface of the earth. Using the simulated spectrometer, the scientists discovered that at the end of the bright activity zones, hot gas erupts at high speed. Magnetic fields connect these areas even when they are very far from each other. When magnetic fields from two regions collide they allow hot gas to escape from the sun - the stream of gas spilling out is the solar wind.

Professor Lewis Hera says, "It is wonderful that the origin of the solar wind can finally be accurately described - the subject has been the subject of debate for many years and now we have the final piece of the puzzle. In the future, we want to investigate how the solar wind travels throughout the solar system."
