NASA sent a sophisticated vehicle to Mars and the first autonomous helicopter to fly in another world's atmosphere (live broadcast)

Persistence, which will arrive at Mars on February 18, 2021, is carrying seven different scientific instruments. The rover's astrobiology mission, developed as part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, will look for signs of past microbial life. Ingenuity, a twin-rotor helicopter, powered by solar energy. Until landing it is attached to the vehicle's belly, after which it will become the first pilot vehicle to fly in the atmosphere of another world

Update 15:50 The separation was carried out successfully. Preserver's on its way to Mars.

Today at 14:50, NASA launched the Mars 2020 spacecraft carrying the Preserverance vehicle, which is much more sophisticated than its predecessor Curiosity, in that it carries with it many cameras that will enable high-resolution live photos and, for the first time, a microphone.
The car-sized Preserverance vehicle carries a suite of scientific instruments designed to detect fossil signatures of life that might have existed there when the crater it landed in - Jezero Crater near the Martian equator was a lake, which left behind an impressive delta.
The United Arab Emirates and China have also launched Mars missions in recent weeks, taking advantage of Earth's close approach to Earth.

The launch is the culmination of years of dedicated work by thousands of people, including teams from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where the spacecraft was designed and built; Kennedy Space Center, where it was assembled; ULA, Lockheed Martin, and scientists from around the world.
The spacecraft will remain attached to the third stage of the Atlas 5 launcher of the United Launch Services Company, for about an hour, and then it will go into an independent orbit to Mars.

Preservation will also collect soil samples from the delta area, and store them in capsules. A spacecraft that will leave in about a decade is supposed to collect them and bring them to Earth.
As of this time - 15:00 the launch is going smoothly
