The Magnet Committee officially approved the establishment of a new association in the field of nanotubes

Among the goals of the new association: the identification of the fields and applications that rely on nanotube technology and have a chance for successful industrial application, such as: strengthening plastic materials and adhesives while reducing weight, ballistic protection, reducing combustion in materials during fire, energy - super capacitors, fuel cells, electrodes, detectors for various fields and diverse, electron conduction, heat dissipation, coatings and special optical applications

The "Nano-Israel 2009" conference, which opened yesterday (Tuesday) at the Anbal Hotel in Jerusalem, was the stage for the official announcement by the Magnat Committee on the approval of the establishment of a new association in the field of nanotubes We reported on it for the first time on the science website In October 2008. The association was established at the initiative of the chairman of the association, Rafi Koriat and the head of the technological committee at the association, Prof. Yachin Cohen and with the encouragement of Dan Wilensky from the INNI organization, with the aim of strengthening and focusing the activity in the field of nanotubes for leading academic-industrial leverage and groundbreaking applications in industry.

The new association will deal with the development of essential technologies that enable the use of carbon nanotubes and others for selected and groundbreaking applications, with among its goals: identifying the fields and applications that rely on the nanotube technology, which have a reasonable chance of leading industrial application. Among the fields: strengthening plastic materials and adhesives while reducing weight, ballistic protection, reducing combustion during fire, energy - supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrodes, detectors for various and varied fields and electron conduction, heat dissipation, transparent conductive coatings and special optical applications.

According to Koriat, the association will deal with locating and overcoming the technological barriers and bottlenecks on the way to relevant applications, defining global sources of raw materials and creating cooperation for ongoing quality supply, academia-industry cooperation to leverage integrated capabilities and the transfer of critical knowledge needed from academia to industry as part of leading research programs, defining standards For safety and regulation suitable for introducing the technology to industrial applications and joining international standardization committees in the field of nanotubes.

As part of the association, a technological/administrative committee was established as well as working groups for the main fields that include sample leaders and group leaders for each field.
Among the potential companies in Maged and their areas of activity are companies that deal with aviation and civilian structures, optical coatings, vehicle shielding, strengthening materials, adhesives, various security issues, energy accumulation and discharge, super capacitors and others.

The MAGNET program (pre-competitive generic research and development) has been operating within the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Employment since 1993, with the aim of assisting in the local development of pre-competitive generic technologies, in the distribution and assimilation of generic technologies developed in Israel and/or abroad in Israeli industry and under the guidance of the users of their application and also works to help strengthen the infrastructures required for the development of advanced technologies.

The "Nano-Israel 2009" conference is being held at the Anbal Hotel in Jerusalem, between March 30 and 31, 2009. The event was organized by the "Conference Exhibitions" company (which is also behind the "Biomed Israel" week) and in collaboration with INNI - the Israeli National Nanotechnology Initiative - and the nanotechnology centers at the various universities.

  1. The size is really excessive, but I believe that the editor of the website decided on the size of the image...
Well done for advancing technology in Israel! This is "the next thing". Finally, there is also cooperation with the academy

  2. hook,
To be honest, I thought the same thing about the poster. It's nice to give credit and recognition to the people who promote science, and you can even put a picture of them in the news. But it's too much...
If I wanted a poster like this I would wait for them to distribute it in the latest news along with pictures of new prime ministers and chiefs of staff 🙂

  3. Don't you think the poster here is a bit exaggerated?
