Watch: MOON SHOT The YouTube series documenting the Google Xprize race to the moon, a whole episode on SpaceIL

A whole chapter deals entirely with the SpaceIL project, the Israeli group participating in the competition

The international race to land an unmanned spacecraft on the moon, the Google Lunar X Prize comes online and has been revealed in the YouTube series A special with 9 short episodes In the Hollywood production of  JJ Abrams which produced, among others, "Lost", "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible". The series follows the 16 teams participating in the competition and an entire episode is dedicated to the only participating Israeli team, SpaceIL

In the chapter dedicated to the association - SpcaeIL Filmed in Israel last summer, one of the association's founders, Yariv Bash, is documented. In the episode, the spacecraft construction room at the aerospace industry was revealed (minute 3:20). The filming took place for about a week in several locations throughout the country (Yehud, Tel Aviv, Mitzpe Ramon, Jerusalem)

At a private premiere event held by Google earlier this week as part of the South by Southwest Film, Music and Interactive Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, the team representatives and guests watched the full episode Moon Shot for the first time. The director of the series opened the screening, who said that he himself was inspired by the people filmed and their work In the process of making the film, he is full of appreciation and admiration for them.

Apart from episode 7, which deals with Israel, the series brings a host of interesting characters from selected teams from all over the world who take part in the competition, among others: a 67-year-old teacher and farmer who, together with his students, dreams of the moon, a Ukrainian immigrant to Canada who, together with his wife, invested all of their family savings and pension funds to fulfill a dream and land spacecraft on the moon; An Indian mathematician who grew up in a small village and was inspired by the first Indian astronaut; A Japanese professor who experienced the tsunami in Japan and together with his students - aspires to land on the moon towards finding alternative future places for human settlement; a team of young scientists from Germany who are involved in the competition on a part-time basis and are called the Part Time Scientists team; An American team founded by an Indian immigrant with absorption difficulties who finally feels like he belongs and even an episode about a Mexican girl who won the Google Lunar XPRIZE subsidiary competition for children, Moon Bots.

SpaceIL is in a leading position in the competition along with another American team- Moon Express. Today, these are the only two teams among the remaining 16 teams that managed to reach the critical milestone of signing an agreement to launch to the moon.
