A billionaire donated $60 million to the Air and Space Museum

An American pilot of Hungarian origin who currently owns the world's largest aircraft leasing company, donated 60 million dollars to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. This is the largest donation in the 153 years of the Smithsonian Museum.

Steven Oder-Hazy (53), dedicated the donation to the museum branch at Dulles International Airport, Dulles Virginia, which is about 50 km from Washington, DC.

Oder-Hazy is the CEO of Lees Financial Corp. of Beverly Hills, California. Forbes magazine lists his name at number 120 on the list of America's richest people. His donation is in addition to donations collected as part of a $130 million fundraising campaign to build the branch, which will be 4 times larger than the current museum on National Boulevard.

The extension, which will be completed in 2003, will display the newest and largest items in the museum's collection.
