NASA postpones the launch of the Lunar Rover (LRO)

The launch planned for December of this year will be postponed until at least February 2009 due to changing launch windows with the Air Force * The spacecraft is supposed to scan potential landing sites for a manned flight and send a hitchhiking spacecraft to crash at one of the poles to find water

NASA is delaying the launch of an unmanned spacecraft to the moon that is supposed to search for potential landing sites for astronauts.

The spacecraft - The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO for short, is supposed to take off from Cape Canaveral in early December on an Atlas 5 rocket. However, the launch was postponed after NASA agreed to exchange launch windows with the US Air Force, which is supposed to fly a prototype of a space drone - satellite Named X-37B which will be unmanned and reusable.

A NASA spokesperson said that the new launch window, which will open on February 27, 2009, will reduce the pressure on the launch and provide many more launch opportunities. "After considering the alternatives, it turned out to be the smartest thing to do." said.

The postponement could cost NASA 7 million dollars per month, but NASA says that the additional cost will be taken from the project's budgetary reserves. This delay will cause NASA to miss one of the target dates for robotic lunar missions that President Bush promised would take place in 2008. NASA is known to be planning to send astronauts to the moon in 2020.

LRO is planned to circle the moon in a circular orbit that passes over the poles for at least a year and use its instruments to map the rocky surface of the moon and search for a safe landing site for a manned launch. In addition, as a hitchhiker on this mission, a $79 million crash spacecraft built by NASA's Ames Research Center will also be launched and will crash on one of the poles to search for signs of the existence of water ice.

It's good that you addressed the clarification.
You can see in my other comments that there is absolutely no place for research, I also mentioned it
Yes, there is a right place for unmanned satellites, at this point, and everything you said is true.
I also mentioned, in another context, the development of nanoparticles.
As the materials we work with will be more refined, and our approach will be enlightened and noble internally, and in our relation to every other creation, yes, then we will be able to approach the future, in a wise and constructive way.

If we discuss in relation to aerodynamic laws: then indeed, turbo-conquering power! And there is an unfavorable strait in it
    Especially, to say the least.
I, in fact, imply and lead to the observation and use of the turbine-forces found in the nature of currents
The winds of life and the flowing gusts.
You can't get to the forces and flight of turbines, as they say, by a rough road.
Therefore, everything has its time, and we are moving forward, step by step, hand in hand in a matter that concerns us all.
See, other things I wrote, the day before yesterday, maybe you will find contexts.

Besides, it really wouldn't hurt us all to return a hearty smile to the dry sciences.

  2. Hugin and Monin.. of Odin.. :

Despite the romantic approach you have taken here, allow me to draw your attention to the following matters:
The journey to "conquer" space entails more than satisfying "our" competitive instincts (I'm not at all sure that only boys are interested in space exploration, but we won't bother with trifles) - satellite positioning systems that you surely also use (or will use in the future) to navigate the Your way in search of a remote street in Tel Aviv, spying on enemy countries so that we can live here quietly (as much as possible), watching TV channels from all over the world live, and countless other uses.
Beyond the uses for it, there is certainly also curiosity and a search for purely scientific truth, knowing that we will not receive "reward" for it in the short term.
Your approach is short-sighted, somewhat arrogant.
You spoke about the limit that morality assigns to science - my friend, things that have been said since the dawn of history, for all its scientific age more or less noisy - especially in the previous centuries. Please don't take us back to dark times. I am not saying that dealing with moral questions is not necessary when dealing with science, but the statement that in a general way that dealing with space is immoral is devoid of any basis.
Do you recommend us to bless others? Let's do so, and see Iran send a missile equipped with a dummy satellite into space. Good Day

  3. space????
I wish, for all the dear boys, on the site, and in my everyday life, as for you, to start filling
the places, emptied inside you, of fruitful things, that serve for the good life,
    Here on earth, on earth.
It is true, and understandable, that the creature of conquest, rooted in you, from the front of Eden, and the inner space, does not give you rest.
Pursue your love, for a fruitful and challenging marriage, teach your spirit, which inspires you for good.
You may find that the spirit is not just oxygen, but a real flow of currents, the life and breath of all eternity.
When you live and understand the forces that hold you, the shared mutual ties, there is the possibility,
And the opportunity, to take advantage of the good resources available to all of us, will be directed, reciprocally, and not
For games, competition, defense, in the face of simulated warfare, and unnecessary tools, which oppose the forces of spirits
    Life.
Think about all this, deep inside, and be sure.
Think about your children, and your spouses, think about your mothers, think about your families who have passed on.
And eternity..if there is a God, he is the rule of eternity and his creatures, who hold you..if there is a God, what rule
    You live for life.
Science is sacred to life, therefore other lives should not be converted in its name.
Science is a good and right means, when it serves the right.
Science is a source of energy, when it is helped by the resources that the nature of the universe summons to it
Science, it destroys, when the powers of its knowledge pass or cross the border of the line, which is fate for morality
    Upper, assigned to him.
It turns out that every prank has a limit, somewhere...
I recommended, again, allow other peoples to test the borders... observe and test their ability, their virtues
And their failures..be smart, not competitive..as you act with your children.
Leave the Israeli ego, for a moment. We Israelis are 60 years old, getting old, and such, we are allowed
    To praise others, from afar.
This does not mean that we should close our eyes to our neighbors, but I wish us and them to live in peace
Nations, with wise borders, as each one does with the people closest to him, with mutual respect.

Well, it was the daily fart on duty..for the pure and eternal truth,, and it's also good that you don't know my name.
Bye...what do you say after that??Love you guys???Hai,hai..

  4. I actually manage to surf at a resolution of 600*800 and enjoy the renewed website more.
Well done for the facelift and well done to the writers and my editor father who bring real materials that manage to interest me anew every time I go in!

  5. To Roy Cezana
It is true that most of the material is in English and that is where I usually browse and browse.
But it's a shame that you spoiled this little corner that represents the enthusiasts.

  6. I will check the scrolling issue. It is probably a matter of the type of browser, its version, etc. We do not have the means to test every browser. I would appreciate it if you could send us these details for the purpose of testing.

  7. Avi Blizovsky
It is indeed customary to browse many other sites that have learned to automatically adjust the resolution.
And at least take care of the possibility of scrolling, the update here is quite amateurish and unsatisfactory.
I do not intend to change the resolution in the future. Apparently I'll have to skip rambling here.

  8. Hello A.
We took this step only after all the major sites switched to a wider format to take advantage of the screens used by most surfers. Unfortunately, it is impossible to please everyone. It should be noted that this is the first negative reaction to the change and there have already been many positive reactions.

Nobody prevents you from changing the resolution either, your screen is almost certainly capable of a higher resolution.
By the way, currently in the left part various services appear such as - the last comments. You can always scroll left.

  9. A,

The site is undergoing a facelift, and it is certainly possible that there are glitches, which I am convinced will be fixed soon.

Still, since you decided not to return, I wish you complete enjoyment in all other scientific sites in the Hebrew language.

  10. To my father Blissofsky
I came back from vacation to an interesting surprise, the site has changed its face... very nice.
But why is the left part of the screen missing?
You tried to push a little too much. I surf with a resolution of 800x600, you probably aren't interested
    Surfers at this resolution.
I used to browse your site on occasion and enjoy the fruits of your labor but...
I also surf many scientific and other websites, I have never encountered such carelessness and lack of seriousness, so goodbye and goodbye.

  11. Look on the bright side, returning to the moon is no longer the preserve of the Americans. Now they are under pressure because the Chinese and Japanese are more than a year ahead of them, and the Indians are breathing down their necks.

The more countries enter the race, the more common the race will become. Meaning, the lowering of costs and the entry of new competitors into the space industry.
