Just as the sun rose this morning in freezing conditions at the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, three crew members of the International Space Station were launched to the station. Chris Hadfield from the Canadian Space Agency, Tom Mashburn from NASA and Roman Romansko from Russia were launched yesterday at 02:12 Israel time. The launch of the Soyuz TMA-07M spacecraft was smooth according to the data of the control center. The crew members are expected to dock in the Rasvat component of the space station on Friday, December 21 at 16:12 Israel time.

As mentioned, the temperature at the launch site was 34 degrees Celsius below zero, but Hadfield told the Universe Today website that the Soyuz rocket is the best and most reliable rocket ever made. "The launch can be carried out in any weather from minus 40 to plus 40" said Hadfield. "He is tough, and contains ten years of experience, and he is not gentle either. I trust him to keep my life.”

Hadfield of Burn and Romanescu will join their 34th crew members already on station – Commander Kevin Ford and Flight Engineers Oleg Novitsky and Yevgeny Trelkin to complete the crew to its full size of six members. The other three were the 33rd crew members so far, and have been on the station since October 25, 2012.
