"Israel is one of the few producers in the world in the commercial space market and it hardly operates in this market which generates over 150 billion dollars a year. Today, Israel is ranked in the second fifth in the world in the field of space, while its technological ranking is higher" says Major General (Res.) Prof. Yitzhak Ben Israel ahead of the opening of the Tel Aviv Workshop on Science, Technology and Security by Prof. Yuval Ne'man that will be held on November 3, 2009 at 08:30 in the "Bar Shira" auditorium at Tel Aviv University.
Prof. Ben Israel, who also serves as the chairman of the Israel Space Agency, stated that "a government policy is needed that will turn the existing asset in the space industry into an economic lever that will have consequences for growth, preventing brain drain and improving the standard of living." According to him, the space industry, which was built to meet security needs, has not yet broken into the global commercial market, even though it is defined in global competition indices as a "leader in the technological field". In order to utilize the infrastructure in commerce, a different government policy and appropriate allocation of resources is needed. "If immediate action is not taken, the downsizing and layoffs of the space industry in Israel will begin this year and the technological advantage we have today will be lost," said Prof. Ben Israel.

  1. Since commenter number 1 knows only the very tip of the Israeli space program, he can write from his heart's content. Unfortunately, Israel's exact capabilities in the field of space radar, space cameras, and other subjects cannot be disclosed today for reasons of confidentiality.

It is no coincidence that the USA is considering buying SAR satellites from Israel, and that cameras made in the country are installed in the satellite tubes abroad.

  2. Hanan, I would have said that the arguments of the professor and the group he publishes are quite similar

  3. Israel "space power"????????

Launching satellites here and there still does not make Israel a space power. I wonder where these megalomaniacal arguments about Israel come from? A little proportion and less spirit would be accepted here with greater seriousness than convincing ourselves of what we are as far from as east from west.
