Despite the security situation, the world space convention led by the Israel Space Agency at the Ministry of Science will open on Monday at the Nation Buildings in Jerusalem.

About 2,000 participants from about 60 countries will come to the gathering, including all the heads of the world's largest space agencies, senior executives of the world's space industry, astronauts, scientists and the managers of major space projects. Despite the tense security situation in Jerusalem, no cancellations were recorded.

The heads of all the world's space agencies are expected to arrive, including: NASA, the European, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Canadian, British, as well as the Czech, Danish, Kazakh and other space agencies.

Among the large delegations that will arrive at the convention can be named the NASA delegation which will contain 50 senior representatives, including, in addition to the head of NASA, the deputy head of NASA, the chief scientist of the International Space Station, the manager of the Orion project, five astronauts, including Chris Hadfield and Sunita Williams who set a record for the number of spacewalks among women. Old and well-known figures in the space world such as Buzz Aldrin, from the first crew that landed on the moon, will also attend the gathering.

At the convention, a large exhibition spanning 1600 square meters of more than 100 exhibitors, including Lockheed Martin, Airbus Defense and Space, Rafael, Alup, IAI, the Italian Space Agency, and start-up companies starting in the field of space.
Science Minister Ofir Akunis: "This is an expression of confidence in Israel and a certificate of appreciation for Israeli science. The fact that the space conference was chosen to take place in Israel is a salute to Israeli science, as a leader and a trailblazer. The State of Israel may be "only" 68 years old, but it stands at the forefront of global entrepreneurship and innovation. I am happy for the Israeli opportunity to host the conference and let its guests be impressed by the beauty of the country and get to know Israeli science and technology up close."

  1. It's good that the conference was held. Russia operates 1500 km from home, the USA has folded, France in an area 1500 km from home.
    We are 10 km from the house. May someone be found to tell us something. It has nothing to do with right or left. Not all of us are on the right.
