The Hebrew University ranks 12th in the world in the ranking of patents in the field of biotechnology

The university is ranked first among universities outside the USA and Great Britain

The prestigious Milken Research Institute in Los Angeles recently published a global ranking according to which the Hebrew University is ranked 12th in terms of the number of patents and their quality - the ranking of patents, in the field of biotechnology.

The study, which deals with a global analysis of biotechnological developments in universities and their commercialization, ranks the best universities in the world according to criteria of the quality of research in the biotechnological field (ranking of publications), the number of patents and their quality (ranking of patents) and the ability to develop the patents commercially (technology transfer and commercialization index).

The Hebrew University was ranked 12th in the world in terms of the number of patents and their quality in the field of biotechnology and ranks first among universities outside the US and the UK.

The Hebrew University was ranked above some of the best universities in the USA and the UK. Yale University in the USA was ranked 18th, Oxford University in the UK was ranked 24th and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was ranked 28th.

The three universities ranked first in the world in terms of the number of patents and their quality are the University of Texas, the University of California at San Francisco and the Johns Hopkins University.

The other universities outside the USA and the UK that were ranked first after the Hebrew University are the Canadian McGill University (in 14th place) and the University of Melbourne (in 19th place).
The report, which included 424 universities, examined the process of progress in the field of biotechnological development in universities, starting from the creation of knowledge and its transfer to the technological stage to the early stage of patent commercialization.
