A frog-like robot

Designed to search for life on other planets

A frog-like robot, spinning and rolling, was built in the USA for landing, in the future (probably within 5-3 years) on an asteroid - and also for sending it to different planets, to search for water on them. The innovative device is called "Frogbot" - and officially: "Hopping Robot" (Robot Manter) - will weigh 1.3 kg. It is under development at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in collaboration with the California Institute of Technology. The "Frogbot" will be powered by one engine and in case of falling on its back or side, it will turn itself back on its "wheels" and continue its movement.

The robot will carry a camera. The electricity for its operation will be provided by solar panels. It will have a computer fed with operational software. He will be deployed remotely. The assumption: this is one of the most efficient space vehicles for activity and movement in an environment where gravity is low. Under such conditions, the robot's leap to a height of 1.8 meters on Earth would be equivalent to 6 meters on a planet like Mars.
