Both Europe and the US condemn the boycott against Israel. This is what French Ambassador to Israel Patrick Mazunab, French Ambassador to Israel, said in a speech to researchers from the Pasteur Institute and the Weizmann Institute who arrived last week for a joint meeting of pairs of researchers from the two institutes, an event that is taking place for the 25th time. Mazunav said these things at a reception he held at his home in Jaffa for the conference participants.

"There is currently a debate about whether to boycott Israel because of its policy in relation to the Palestinians. I am meeting with your colleagues (scientists) and I realized that some of the European colleagues, including those in the academy, are calling for boycotting Israel and they are doing this according to their claim to change the reality on the ground." Mazunab says.

"When I was recently in Paris, I was asked by one of the scientists whether the debate was relevant, whether it would help if I avoided visiting Israel. I told him it wouldn't help. For several reasons. The first reason is that France condemns the boycott. Second, we need to be clear and avoid confusion regarding the boycott. You know this because you work with the Weizmann Institute and perhaps also with other institutions. Research in Israel is outstanding. What is at stake is the future of the human race."

"Thirdly, I have been here for three years and most of the scientists are working to change the situation in the field. The scientists I met are committed to changing the situation, therefore the boycott of Israel is the boycott of those who actually want peace, and therefore the boycott is absurd. "

Although you, who came here, are not in this "mood", but you have colleagues in France and Europe, and you should convey this message to them.

For over forty years, the two institutes have cooperated under a common framework - the Pasteur-Weizmann Council, which raises donations for joint research projects, researcher exchanges and the organization of biennial conferences.

As mentioned, on April 13 and 14, the meeting was held for the 25th time. As every two years, the researchers from the two scientific institutes delved into a common topic. This year they were engaged in the field of biological microscopy - a technology that is generating a continuous transformation in the life sciences and in the life of biomedical research.

  1. If they were really opposed, they would arrest the activists abroad, but under the surface they also support and even appoint all organizations for the rights of terrorists, including in Israel
