The members of the 16th crew of the space station, the American commander Peggy Whitson and the flight engineer Yuri Melanchenko from Russia, and together with them the Malaysian astronaut Sheikh Muzafar Shukor arrived at the International Space Station. Their spacecraft, Soyuz TMA-11 docked at the Earth-facing dock of the station's Zarya component at 16:50 p.m. Israel time. The new occupants of the station and their Malaysian guest were launched on Wednesday from Baikonur in Kazakhstan.

Crew 15 Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin and flight engineer Oleg Kutov and American Clay Anderson welcomed the new crew members aboard the station when the airlocks opened at 18:22 p.m. (Israel time). Members of the two crews will work together for nine days before Yurch Yachin, Kotov and Shukor will return to Earth in the Soyuz TMA-10 spacecraft.

Anderson will remain with the 16th crew and return to Earth next month aboard the space shuttle Discovery, on mission STS-120.

  1. You know what? right!
I don't understand how these "scientists" didn't think of this before…

You have to tell them that!

  2. About 40 years ago, astronauts landed on the moon
About 20 years ago, the space station Skylab and the Russian space station Mir were sent to Earth.
I'm sure that even in these space stations they did horrible experiments.
Then they started building the International Space Station.
I think and believe that more important than the establishment of the international space station is the settlement on the moon and Mars than to continue to go around the earth and do scientific experiments with all their importance.

  3. If I understood correctly, the actual quantification of the space station is not the issue
In addition to the studies that the astronauts do on the station, these are the important things.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any important studies that would justify the cost of the station.
I'd love to be updated if I'm wrong.
In any case, instead of building the station, the Americans could continue towards the moon following the Apollo operation.

  4. Why does someone always have to stand up and post a counter reaction?!
"Waste of taxpayers' money" - enough with these claims already! Do you want another claim? "burning fuel in huge quantities and air pollution" I'm sure more stupid claims can be made up.
Why are there scientific studies at all? Why learn about dinosaurs? Why was the "Hidan" website established at all? Why did we build CERN? Do you know how much it cost to establish CERN? Billions to find a few particles! What about the really needy? What is better to discover another particle or buy a villa for someone in need?

Leave, don't research, don't study, go work in the field and produce food. Knowledge is just a waste of precious time and a lot of money, too bad.

  5. The International Space Station is a waste of American taxpayers' money.
Does anyone know what purpose it was built for?
It is a fact that there are no reports of the "important" things they do there.
