Four Europeans will enter in a few months for 105 days in a system that will simulate a flight to Mars, in an isolated facility in Moscow.

If the stories of Yossi and Einav Bublil, Shafra Kornfeld, Itai Ziv, and stylist Leon Schneiderkovski come to their end this week in the finale of the Big Brother program, after all, in March new tenants will move in, although not in the Big Brother house in Neve Ilan, but in an equally isolated facility (and maybe even more so). Starting in March 2009, four residents from different European countries will enter an isolated facility near Moscow to simulate a flight to Mars.

That is, instead of numbing the minds of the television viewers by following people locked in one house, without having any purpose, Big Brother in its fictional version at least tries to gain new knowledge about the ability to sustain a flight to Mars, when a relatively small group of people are locked in a small cell, for months long and then its members perform work on another planet, and return to Earth. Really a reality show for Friedman.

The names of the four chosen ones, who were sorted out of a group of 5,600 candidates, were announced at an event at the European Space Agency's headquarters in Paris last Thursday. Their task will be ambitious, but not so competitive. They showed that they know how to work as a team and this makes them ideal for research." said the European Space Agency's Mars-500 Project Manager Jennifer Ngo-An.

After weeks of training for the mission, two of the four will be selected to join four Russians in a specially designed isolation facility in Moscow. The other two will serve as a backup team, and they will replace one of the team members if one of them is forced to withdraw by the time of entry.
The six astronauts will stay at the facility for 105 days, in cooperation with the Russian Institute of Space Medical Problems, and they will live, eat, sleep and work in the newly renovated facility.

The lessons learned from them will be used in a study that will begin in the middle of 2009 in which YA team of six people will sign in the room for the entire 520 days of the Mars mission.

The purpose of the Mars-500 study is to collect data, knowledge and experience to prepare a real mission to Mars when the time comes. The participants will be the subjects of scientific research to assess the effect of their isolation on psychological and physiological aspects, such as stress, hormone and immune system regularity, sleep quality, mood and the effectiveness of nutritional supplements. As part of this program have also been carried out Shorter trials.

The four chosen on behalf of the European Space Agency are Cédric Mabelot from Paris, France, Cyril Fournier, also a pilot from France, Archanamal Gaillard, an electrical engineer from Reims, France, and Oliver Kinkel, a mechanical engineer in the German army.

The Big Brother program, Mars version will start in Moscow on March 24, 2009. Participants are guaranteed a good salary. This time it is a real scientific experiment and not on a TV show.

  1. I agree that there is a lack of good programs in the commercial channels and it's a shame!
    It's really a shame...
I think that the laboratory program that the first channel put up is quite reasonable and I enjoy it, but there is room for improvement. They can be more dynamic and aim a little higher, but still Itai Vared manages to hold the show alone and give a nice show and also convey some important topics to the younger generation, and to the older generation that is interested in the fields of popular science and news in the field of technology. Not bad at all.

True - considering that the first channel in the laboratory program is the only one of the main channels in Israel that airs a TV program dealing with science and technology news, a fascinating field that the commercial channels do not approach for some reason, even though it has quite a large audience (a good presenter who brings a rating on the commercial channel like 2 or 10 will bring even more ratings than the talented and interesting but not so well-known Eti Vard brings to the "laboratory" stuck in the afternoon on the ragged Channel 1 which nevertheless does something good).
At first, Channel 1 put on the lab with a presenter named Natalia and it was nothing at all in my opinion, but now with their field reports and with the interviews that presenter Vared conducts with fun, I find myself quite enjoying this half hour, when I return early from work.

Let them move it to a normal time like 19:00 and respect all the many surfers who are interested in these areas. Science and technology news is not a dirty word.

In the meantime, I find constant solace in the YES satellite channels that are disappointing me more and more in terms of the level of programs and the huge amount of rebroadcasts. I like environmental quality, nature and ecology, but also "soft" science, gadgets, innovations and inventions, technology issues, etc. are very interesting and it is desirable to give them a stage too...

  2. The reality shows are suitable for organizations that try to sell garbage to the masses. Fortunately, there is the first channel - yes yes, Channel 1 - which occasionally gives the young and adult viewers who still have a crumb left in their heads a bit of satisfaction in the form of the laboratory program, hosted by Itai Vared. This is not a reality show and it does not do competitions. The laboratory is a science and technology program that brings both innovations in health issues and also takes care of the quality of the environment and computers. Itai Vared took the program "The Laboratory", which is broadcast on Sunday evening, and turned it into something worth opening the TV with. No more bubblegum reality show, no old and boring Channel 1. But something with a flowing and fun taste. Itai Vared, brings a new spirit, gives it a spicy spice with color articles and good interviews (how good it is to have a host of a program who is not afraid to let the interviewee expand more than three short sentences on such important issues at the forefront). In my opinion, on channel 1 they do not treat the laboratory program as it should, otherwise they would have given it more time and all, but it is already an improvement that the first channel is starting to provide content that the other channels such as channel 2 or channel 10 would not dream of doing. With them, it's all a bubbling reality show. The only science you will see in them are bad magazine articles by Haim Etgar - so-called colorful ones that tell us about gadgets related to computers and cell phones, without a hint of thinking about the readers who want to think a little about what is being done in the world, not in terms of the psychoses of Britney Spears, but what is at the forefront of science .
Is Itay Vared and the first channel - Channel 1 - the only public channel the only sane place where we can receive sane television? Will Channel 10 or Channel 2 never think of making a TV program like the laboratory that deals with the field of the trip? Don't we deserve some air time in favor of activating the gray cells? In favor of a more sane education for our children? To reduce the culture of shallowness and celebs?

  3. what is big brother
    Who is Bobelil?

Ah! Bublil is the inventor of Bublilism!
For those who don't know - bubblylism, or bubblylis mania, is a phenomenon in which an ugly man smokes all
Today, invents proverbs, and with many other side effects.
The phenomenon is named after its prototype - Yossi Bublil.

  4. N.C.:
So far I have not intervened in the discussion.
The show really didn't interest me and neither did the discussion really.
In light of your words, I still find a place to ask a question:
What did you learn from the program?
After all, curiosity is meant to satisfy our urge to learn and understand more things and I want to understand if this urge, in your case, really worked in the right direction and provided the goods.

  5. Those who are self-righteous and righteously boast because they have not seen
the program, probably suffer from a lack of self-confidence
And not intelligent enough and not gifted with curiosity
    balance.
And as for the program: a. This is an entertainment show. B. in the program
Relationships between people who are different in terms of culture, age, origin, sex, etc. are expressed and those who are interested in psychology derive a lot of pleasure from such a program.

In conclusion, those who are not curious should not watch such programs, but should not brag about it without any justification.

  6. The truth is that as the exact sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc.) become more complex and difficult to understand, the majority of the public simply gives up quickly and turns to an easy way that does not require too much intelligence: watching movies and reality shows that appeal to the lowest common denominator. And since the broadcast channels have to be lucrative - a positive feedback is created which unfortunately amplifies itself.
A similar phenomenon can be seen in the literature: popular science books are few and far between and we are being washed over by a growing wave of "science" bullshit (numerology, crystals, chakras, trot cards and much more).
For years this situation has been eating away at my heart...

  7. Anat,
I'm more surprised that an entire generation watching the TV screen has never heard of James Clark Maxwell. And think that television is just a device.

  8. I also got to watch "Big Brother" and even enjoyed it very much, and as you can see I also got to go and read on the "Hidan" website and I also enjoyed that very much, number three - you're all glad that "Pukta" never heard of "Big Brother" And you hurry to explain what and what the program is about... what about a little book called "1984"? Is this also "low level nonsense"? It's not worth explaining who or rather what the "big brother" really is?! It amazes me that an entire generation and more have never heard of George Orwell and think that "Big Brother" is just a reality show and that's all it is... isn't it a shame?!

  9. I'm actually an avid watcher of the Big Brother and also enter the "Yadan" website at least once a week.
In my opinion, the plan is no less genius! Yes yes.. and I'm not some Neanderthal
The program is a fascinating experiment in relationships between people. And what's beautiful is that the events happen by themselves almost without the intention of the production, unlike the other reality shows.
So enough with the self-righteousness, you can be both intelligent and enlightened and enjoy the big brother

  10. Needless to say, I also want to throw up from the many reality shows and especially from the stupid show "Big Brother", but unfortunately, all your angry reactions on this topic will not help because those who watch Big Brother have not entered and will never enter the science website...

  11. Hey 2. Thanks for the explanation, and really today I happened to hear something from the TV transmitter about the final of the big brother. I understand that everyone is happy it's over and posting it non-stop.

  12. Soon the big fat brother's nightmare is over
And then maybe people will start talking about important things and not about the primitive Bublil and the hollow Friedmans

  13. Big brother has nothing. They lie around like pumpkins all day

  14. At least there is shame in admitting that they watch Big Brother.
This is half a consolation because it shows that people understand that Big Brother is a substandard program

  15. The big prize in the "flight" to Mars is the participation in the advancement of science, and the team's contribution to the advancement of humanity exceeds by millions the contribution of the corresponding team in the Big Tin House.
By the way, people are really ashamed to watch the Big Tin show. Despite its high ratings, everyone I ask if they watch it answers with a sneer and a raised eyebrow, "Me?? Why? Maybe I saw a little by chance, but I'm really not a regular viewer." According to my survey, the program has a zero rating. I personally admit to watching half an episode at the neighbor's (a neighbor who watches regularly).

  16. The big brother is a sub-level program in which some friends are brought into the villa for a few months who look pretty good but are really not smart for the most part and include some terribly stupid creatures and let them fight with each other. The Big Brother is the production that records them and broadcasts to the masses of Beit Israel what happens in the Big Brother house - which is a stupid villa. Big brother is low level bullshit.
I'm so happy to know that there are people who don't know what "big brother" is.

  17. An interesting preliminary experiment, although I think much more can be learned if astronauts are placed on the space station for this period. On Earth the conditions are completely different and the psychology is completely different. Also, take into account the small fact that a hundred days is not a year and a half. Finally, the very fact that they are all men is a bit jarring. Not because of the problem of humanity, sexual relations and psychological balance - but on the level of equal rights and the value of women as human beings are equal to anything in anything scientific or otherwise.
