Hebrew University researchers discovered another role for a central enzyme in the human body - regulating the actions of genes in the body. The discovery is an important advance in the effort to control and cure many diseases, including AIDS and various types of cancer.
The intermediary enzyme Lysyl-tRNA synthetase is one of the central proteins in the cell, and has a crucial role in translating the information found in RNA into amino acids that make up the proteins.
Doctoral students Nurit Yanai-Cohen and Irit Karmi-Levi from the Institute of Medical Sciences - Israel-Canada at the Hebrew University discovered that the enzyme takes part in a chain of events that results in the release of an inhibitor that prevents the transcription of genes. The AIDS virus uses this enzyme during its replication process and high levels of the molecule have been diagnosed in various types of cancer such as breast cancer. However, the individual roles of the protein in these diseases have not yet been discovered.
In the study, published in the journal Molecular Cell, the researchers emphasize that the ability to understand the regulatory role of the molecule may contribute significantly to global research on "turning off" and "turning on" genes that are active in these diseases.
The research was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Ehud Razin and under the guidance of Dr. Hovav Nehushtan from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University.

The claim, of course, is silly.
If he knows how to make a cure for AIDS and if he is so interested in saving Africans from the clutches of American greed - then nothing prevents him from simply packing his things, flying to Africa, and implementing his invention there.

Ron, I carefully read the attached link (Michael, read it too, you might understand more than I do) and I don't understand something if the above treatment does help, why isn't a private pharmaceutical company buying the patent and implementing it? To be honest, the whole thing seems somewhat strange to me
Besides the fact that the whole world is always against you, explain logically why in your opinion they don't want the AIDS patients to get well, who has an interest in that? Do you know how many economies sank because of the disease? It hits exactly at the age when a person is supposed to be the most productive, if someone finds a solution, he will be a billionaire.
