In the presence of the senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and Science, the mayors of Nes Ziona and Rehovot and the management of Elbit Systems, the national laboratory for the development of space cameras, "Daniel", was inaugurated at the end of the week, located at the Alof site in the science park in Nes Ziona.

Tens of millions of shekels were invested in the establishment of the sophisticated laboratory in the last three years, jointly funded by the Ministry of Defense and Elbit Systems, and it is designed to serve the relevant needs of the Israeli space programs over the coming decades.

Innovative technologies, among the most advanced in the world in the field of space photography, will be implemented in the new laboratory designed to meet the ever-increasing demand to receive high-quality photographic products and to use telescopes and space cameras whose dimensions are increasing as a result. The laboratory structure was designed and built while applying all the knowledge and experience gained during about 20 years of space projects and while anticipating the existing and predicted requirements for at least the next twenty years.

The "Daniel" laboratory will receive the "Jupiter" camera project in the coming days, the most advanced camera with the highest resolution designed and manufactured to date in the State of Israel. This camera will be inserted into the OPSAT 3000 satellite of the aerospace industry but can be integrated into any other satellite.

The president of Elbit Systems, Yossi Akerman, said: "We are proud of the establishment of the new laboratory, one of the most advanced of its kind in the world, and we hope that the Israeli government will leverage the unique and ground-breaking capabilities that exist here and promote new projects as part of the national space program."

Albit Systems Aluf is the developer and manufacturer of space cameras that currently serve the defense system and civilian bodies, among which we can name the Ofek 3, 5 and 9 cameras as well as civilian programs such as Eros A and B, Compust 2 supplied to the Korean Space Agency, Tawax camera in the ultra range Violet and the super-spectral Venus camera that will be delivered to the French Space Agency during 2012.
