"The Pillars of Creation" A photograph that is considered one of the classics of mourning, in which the beautiful pillars that come out of the Eagle Nebula appear shows something that no longer exists. A new image taken by the Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed that the gas and dust towers likely evaporated a long time ago.

The Eagle Nebula is about 7,000 light-years from Earth, which means that light from the nebula takes 7,000 years to reach us. We don't see the nebula as it looks today but as it looked thousands of years ago. Spitzer's image shows the nebula with an area illuminated by red light. This huge area was scorched by material ejected from a supernova a thousand to two thousand years earlier. In fact, the region is full of young and massive stars that are about to explode at any moment.

Although the pillars can be seen in this image, it is still only a matter of time, astronomers estimate that it will take another year or so before the shock wave from the supernova reaches the pillars and blows them away. This means that these pillars were destroyed six thousand years ago. It will take us another thousand years before we can observe the event.

  1. There is also the Eagle Nebula, I read about the Horse's Head Nebula and yes you are right, it is indeed a very small distance in the mighty universe "man recognizes his nothingness in the face of the infinity of the universe" our chance of discovering life even if there is life is zero and even less the scientists believe there is no life what did they check a star One in billions just in our galaxy there is a 99.9 chance that there are far more advanced zoils than us who have broken the laws of physics we are subject to

  2. The problematic dimensions of space exploration are already evident when it comes to neighboring distances (7000 light years is a relatively small distance).
