"The Pillars of Creation" a photograph that is considered one of the classics of mourning, in which the beautiful pillars that come out of the Eagle Nebula appear shows something that no longer exists
The Eagle Nebula is about 7,000 light-years from Earth, which means that light from the nebula takes 7,000 years to reach us. We don't see the nebula as it looks today but as it looked thousands of years ago. Spitzer's image shows the nebula with an area illuminated by red light. This huge area was scorched by material ejected from a supernova a thousand to two thousand years earlier. In fact, the region is full of young and massive stars that are about to explode at any moment.

The problematic dimensions of space exploration are already evident when it comes to neighboring distances (7000 light years is a relatively small distance).
