The space shuttle DISCOVERY has detached from the space station and is making its way to Earth. The landing is expected on Monday at 11:46 Israel time. During the day, the crew members are supposed to carry out tests of the shuttle's propulsion rockets and prepare equipment for the landing. The ferry delivered supplies of food and water to the station and received unnecessary equipment from it. The station staff members, Sergey Kriklev and John Phillips, thanked the shuttle crew and said goodbye to them with handshakes and hugs.

The STS-114 mission team returned the Rafale multipurpose logistics module back to the space shuttle Discovery. The locks between Raffaello and the International Space Station were closed at 1:42 a.m. EST (08:42 a.m. Israel time). Raffaello is now full of equipment that is not needed at the station. This is Raffaello's third trip to the Hal International Station.

In other activities Friday, Discovery and space station crew members prepared for Discovery's departure. The ferry is scheduled to leave the station on Saturday at 10:24 a.m. and land in Florida on Monday at 13:46 p.m. Israel time.

As I recall, on Thursday the control center broadcast to Discovery that there is no need for a fourth spacewalk to repair the thermal cover near the headquarters window. NASA assures that the decision was made based on comprehensive tests and analyses.
