The space shuttle Discovery left the International Space Station this afternoon (15:52 Israel time). Shuttle pilot James Dutton made a lap of the station and allowed the Discovery crew to conduct a photographic survey of the station's condition.
If the weather permits, the shuttle engines will be activated on Monday at 07:43 (14:43 Israel time) and will lead to a landing at 08:51 EST (15:51 Israel time) at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Earlier, the Discovery crew had finished scanning the shuttle's heat shield to make sure it could land safely, as one of the conclusions from the Columbia disaster. This operation is usually carried out after leaving the space station, but due to the broken antenna, the Discovery crew will not be able to transmit the images to Earth. The shuttle mission was extended on the day during which the inspection was completed and the images were transmitted to experts on the ground for examination via the space station's KU BAND antenna.
