The space shuttle Discovery landed at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this evening at three minutes before seven in the evening, after a 12-day journey during which it spent about eight days on the International Space Station and its crew performed two spacewalks.

This was Discovery's 39th mission, and it actually captured the space shuttle flight record so far both in the number of missions and in the number of flight hours.

In about a year, the Discovery will be moved to the Space and Aviation Museum in Washington, where millions of people will be able to watch it after about 30 years of operational activity.
