"Venus", the first Israeli satellite for environmental purposes, will be launched into space this summer and the Israeli Space Agency at the Ministry of Science is looking for a winning design for the satellite's mission badge (patch). "Venus" is the flagship project of the Israel Space Agency in the Ministry of Science and the French Space Agency (CNES), and its construction was recently completed at the Israel Aerospace Industries facilities. The camera that was the responsibility of the French was also built in Israel - at the Alup factory.

The satellite is intended for monitoring fields and plots of land from space for the purposes of environmental research, monitoring soil condition, vegetation, forestry, agriculture, quality of water bodies and more. "Venus" is equipped with a multispectral camera that can pick up details that are not visible on Earth. The satellite will provide dozens of images every day, each of which will show about 700 square kilometers.

It should be noted that the development of the satellite began over a decade ago but its completion was postponed several times for budgetary reasons. However, there will still be great benefit in the multispectral observations he will make for agriculture, land and sea pollution mapping, and more.

A mission badge is a symbol worn by astronauts and crew members associated with a space mission and embodies the essence of the mission. In recent years, the practice of designing mission tags for satellites and even launchers has increased.

The competition is intended for art and design students, artists, designers and enthusiasts. The winner of the contest will receive a Wacom graphic tablet.

Designs can be submitted for the competition until the end of April. Details On the Facebook page of the Israeli Space Agency and on the agency's website .

  1. There is a bit of a problem with the prize. You see, "art and design students, artists, and amateur designers" already have a fine graphic board, probably from Wacom.
