Space station astronauts Peggy Whitson and Dan Tanney completed a spacewalk that lasted seven hours and four minutes on Saturday (24/11). They completed their main task earlier than planned and continued to perform scheduled jobs at later times.

They moved the shelf, which weighs about 140 kg and is about 6 meters long, from the station's main avenue to the side of the Destiny laboratory and completed the fluid and electrical connections.

Tani also performed a close inspection of the Alpha Sunshine collector's rotation motor which the instruments showed increased power consumption and increased vibrations during its rotation action designed to track the sun. Whitson installed and adapted cables for use as part of the power transmission system between the station and the space shuttle. The two also installed a foot stop on the Armoni for subsequent spacewalks to install the European Columbus Space Laboratory on the STS-122 mission.
