Clumps and streams of dark matter in the Milky Way

Some of the dark matter clumps are even close to the solar system. This is evident from running a simulation on supercomputers

One of the leading theories regarding the evolution of the universe after the big bang is the dark matter theory. This theory suggests that dark matter cooled slowly in the early universe and allowed matter to clump together to form the galaxy clusters we see. Otherwise, matter would be uniformly distributed in the universe.

Scientists recently ran on the world's most powerful supercomputers a program that sought to visualize the dark matter halo that surrounds our galaxy. The simulations revealed clumps and compressed streams of dark matter hiding within the Milky Way, including in the region of our solar system."
"In previous simulations, this region was smooth, but now we have enough detail to see the clumps of dark matter," said Piero Madeo, a professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

The simulation detailed in the article in the journal Nature may help scientists find out what dark matter really is. So far it has been discovered through its gravitational effect on stars and galaxies. Another part of the dark matter theory says that dark matter is made up of loosely associated massive particles (WIMPS), which can vaporize each other and produce gamma rays when they collide. Gamma rays from the evaporation of dark matter can be detected by the Glast telescope - a space telescope for detecting gamma rays in large areas of space.

"That's what makes it more interesting," Maddow said. "Some of these clumps are so dense that they emit a lot of radiation. If dark matter indeed originates from ionization, we can easily discover it with Glast. And if indeed they are discovered it will be the first discovery of WIMPS. Although the nature of dark matter remains a mystery, it appears to account for 82% of the matter in the universe. The clumps of dark matter create a gravitational well that pulls in normal matter and provides space for the development of dark matter halos in the centers of galaxies.

The simulation was carried out on the Jaguar supercomputer at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and required a full month of running and simulating the distribution of dark matter from the period after the big bang 13.7 billion years ago - to the present period using 3,000 witnesses at the same time, a total of 1.1 million processor hours were devoted to the project.

  1. to Nimrod and others

Is the existing theory about the structure of the universe clear and without problems and failures?, no and no!, it has failures no less than many other theories. The explanations given by her for certain failures are really ridiculous (as I showed in my response from 11.8. I'm willing to bet on the next explanation that will come from Midresham of the dark mass and energy fans and it will be negative dark mass.
The failures that appear in Pushing Gravity are not easy.
    A. A problem of friction and heating.
B, contradictions that may arise with the theory of attribution.
And there may be a few more
But, on the other hand, there is no need for dark mass and dark energy to explain the universe, and its accelerated expansion, and in addition, it explains the phenomenon of gravitation in a logical way.
The believers in Pushing Gravity (yes, there are some) are aware of the flaws in the theory and are looking for solutions.

  2. Nimrod:
What is the meaning of this "Zionism"?
In your opinion, which theory is rejected outright and how many hundreds of years and thousands of refutations must be swallowed before it is said that it has crossed the threshold and it is already allowed to reject it?
The theory of pushing gravity was first used in 1750 and since then it has been dismissed by everyone who has considered it (and many good ones have considered it).
Here on the site you can find many refutations of it.
The whole way of science is a way of choosing the multitude of theories that were not disproved in the experiment and the aforementioned theory was, therefore, respectfully removed from the way of science.
So what - if someone suddenly chooses to bring it up again - can it be called "outright disqualification"?
The dark matter theory, on the other hand, explains many things and has never been disproved. It has existed for a relatively short time and if there is any theory that can be said to be on the brink it is the dark matter theory.
So that's it - Yehuda dismisses this theory as well as the theory regarding the existence of black holes - outright and without any reasoning.
There is no doubt that you joined the right side!

  3. Indeed, and that's why it's impressive.

It's kind of like hearing something invisible, and then inferring its smell.

  4. Yehuda, if I were a maniac I would mention in depth the tornado theory which is retarded to the point of being silly..
And I'm still surprised that there are lumpy and flow models of dark matter, since dark matter, as of now, is a very theoretical matter created from equations.
Regarding the evaporation of dark matter that releases gamma rays, it reminds a bit of a reaction between matter and antimatter..

  5. Never dismiss ideas outright (almost never), many things can sound a bit strange sometimes - but there is no need to be discouraged, since the dawn of history there have been scientific ideas that have been dismissed outright and only after decades (and sometimes even more) did it become clear that the direction was right and they understand what they did not understand before.

I'm happy to see a lot of ideas here, sometimes things don't seem so good to me, but rejection at the threshold is a relatively rare thing for me, especially when it comes to theories about which we don't have enough information, so I think that things that go down to the personal level here are a bit unnecessary in a place that seeks knowledge.

    Welcome
    knowledge is power.

  6. Everyone who talks a lot has a lot of wisdom
But please keep a matter-of-fact tone.
How childish people can be when they argue about theories of the universe.... It's just funny.

You put in words, you dragged me... my father, he emptied me!!!!

    Some proportions friends 🙂
    Come on excuse me...

  7. God forbid, but in my current response I'm not talking about pushing gravity, and don't drag me into it because I won't drag.
When I have ideas for solutions to the problems posed by the pushing gravity theory and my simple universe idea, I'd love to let everyone know.

    Good Day

  8. Yehuda:
I'm not putting words in your mouth.
If you stopped supporting Pushing Gravity please say so outright.

  9. To Michael
I didn't talk about the pushing gravity and don't put words in my mouth.
Particles move around a lot in the universe without any connection to any theory.

  10. to the point (and others)

A common mistake is found in the following sentence you said:-

"Any idiot knows that dark matter comes only to explain the missing mass."

The problem is not in the missing mass, but in the mismatch of the size of the gravitation to the movement of the galaxies in the universe, that is, the gravitation in the universe is not sufficient to explain the much movement of the galaxies.
A possible and common explanation is the one that appears here in the article, and it is the addition of mass to matter in the universe (darkness, lack - it's the same thing). This explanation is greatly strengthened when it also explains the aging.
But this explanation fails miserably when it comes to explaining the accelerated expansion of the universe because it requires the universe to actually slow down its expansion by its very essence!
That's why he demands and obliges us to pull out another rabbit in the form of "dark energy" that will eliminate the gravitational effect of the dark mass in the universe where necessary.
Another failure is in ignoring the friction that such a dark mass is supposed to create.
In addition, there is another common mistake in your words:-
    "Idush? It's gravity."
The reason for the error - pollution is a phenomenon, while gravitation is the explanation we are trying to give for this phenomenon. The explanation is acceptable, but is it the only possible explanation? Not necessarily, in every lens (camera telescopes) there is a phenomenon of bending / breaking the light rays, and it is not because of gravitation.
The atmosphere also bends light rays and not because of gravity.
Another thing, defining the other commenters with derogatory terms such as "idiot", was unnecessary.

    Good Day

  11. Yehuda:
It's really interesting how in vain here you allow yourself to dismiss a theory just because you think it is...
    Explains a lot of things.
    Beauty!
By the way - at the same time you are of course also trying to give a boost to another theory that is refuted by the findings.
You also deserve respect for sticking to this theory and bravely standing up to the facts.

  12. Yehuda: "He always explains what we cannot explain", dark matter is our explanation (one of them) for all kinds of phenomena.
    Gravityless==>dark matter, definitely conceivable.
Are there gamma rays? You made a serious mistake, the gamma rays are one of the experiments that can confirm the theory. We don't know yet if there are those gamma rays.
    Idush? It's gravity.

In short, everything you said is just one thing that dark matter is the solution to gravitation. And basically you didn't change anything. Any idiot knows that dark matter comes only to explain the missing mass.

  13. What a darling dark matter is, it always explains what we can't explain.
Lack of gravity? - dark matter!,
Are there gamma rays? - as much dark matter as needed!
Idush? - Yes, you are right!, dark matter!
Everywhere and as much as necessary - a song of praise, to the dark matter!! Even in our backyard. You don't see him, why? He is so shy! He sees and is not seen!
And if by chance we took a little too much dark matter?? - Gentlemen, there is a solution - dark energy! And even a lot, as much as needed. From where? - From the vacuum as much as you need!!, lots of energy, there is no energy crisis here!
Now you just have to find the two dark matter particles - WIMPS, and come to Zion Goel (dark)!
But what to do, nobody finds them.
I'll bet there are no WIMPS.
There are particles, the universe is full of particles, but not dark!
    Good night
