A delegation of senior officials from China's manned space program, led by the deputy director of China's manned space program, Wang Zhaoyao and the techonaut (Chinese astronaut) Jing Haipeng (Mr. Jing Haipeng) from the team of Shenzhou VII, arrived in Israel for a series of meetings with senior members of the scientific community in Israel. Yesterday (Sunday) the delegation met with the Minister of Science and Technology Rabbi Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz. and the CEO of his office, Menachem Greenblum. This is the first delegation of its kind to arrive in Israel from China.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) the delegation is expected to meet with the country's president, Shimon Peres.
In the meeting with the Minister of Science, the possibility of cooperation between Israel and China in scientific research in the field of space exploration was raised. So far there has been no cooperation in this field with Israel. The head of the Chinese delegation noted that by 2020 the Chinese space station will be launched into space while the American space station is expected to stop operating, which will make China the leader in the race. Already today, China is one of the emerging powers in manned space projects.
The delegation expressed great interest in establishing scientific ties and cooperation possibilities in China's manned space programs, and raised the possibility that in future missions experiments by Israeli researchers could fly into space using Chinese spacecraft.
