The two returned to the space station due to higher than permitted levels of carbon dioxide in Cassidy's space suit.
Spacewalkers Dave Wolfe and Chris Cassidy completed a six-hour spacewalk at 23:31 p.m. The spacewalk ended earlier than expected due to higher than permitted levels of carbon dioxide in Cassidy's space suit.
The two replaced multi-layer insulation from the Japanese Kibo component and installed the test system exposed to space conditions. They also prepared the ground for the installation of the facility for experiments in space conditions on Thursday in the outer part of the Kibo laboratory. Compared to these two successes, they failed to replace all six original batteries in the power channel in the P6 component. The remaining batteries will be replaced on one of the next spacewalks.
It was the third spacewalk on mission STS-127. and the 128th in number to assemble the space station.
