Dr. Ashraf Barik, a researcher from the Department of Chemistry and the Edmond J. Center. Safra for the design and planning of functional biopolymers at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, won the fact that his article "Total chemical synthesis of di-ubiquitin chains" which was published in the journal Angewandte Chemi, was among the 12 most interesting articles in the world of chemistry, as part of the summary of the 2010 activity year in the prestigious weekly magazine of the American Chemical Society, Chemical & Engineering News. The article won worldwide recognition.

The group's most recent article "Towards elucidating the role of ubiquitination in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease using semisynthetic ubiquitinated α-synuclein" on a study done in collaboration with Prof. Hillel Lashol from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland, was recently selected as "the next thing" By the editors of Angewandte Chemi magazine. Dr. Brick's research group has been incorporated over the past three years in projects where the chemical synthesis of proteins is carried out. The group is also a pioneer in the development of chemical methods for the preparation of peptides and proteins related to ubiquitin.

Dr. Brick has received many grants and awards in the past, including the Wolfson Foundation, the Israel Science Foundation, the Edmond Safra Foundation, the Marie Curie International Grant and the HFSP Foundation - the Program for the Advancement of the Human Sciences.
