The Environmental Quality Committee of the Spanish Parliament has announced that it will supportThe great apes project (Great Ape Project), which is designed to provide the great apes with basic legal rights such as the right to live freely without harassment.

This precedent decision places Spain at the head of the countries interested in granting rights to animals. Various conventions for the protection of animals proved to be useless, so it was decided to take a big step forward and give great apes equal rights in primary legislation.

בReuters It is noted that this decision received cross-party support and legislation is expected to be passed soon that will outlaw animal experiments.

According to The Times of London, Reactions to the decision were mixed. Some people supported the proposal, others did not understand why precisely in a period of economic slowdown people find time to deal with animals. And there were those who thought that the decision was strange since there are no apes in the Spanish nature.

Regardless of public opinion, the Great Apes Project Removed Because, "for the first time in human history, an important parliament announces its support for granting rights to the great apes."

The project was established in 1993 by animal lovers and philanthropists from around the world with the aim of providing equal rights to all hominids including man, gorilla, chimpanzee and orangutan. Under most forms of government, a simple protection of human rights is not enough, so the only effective way to ensure rights such as freedom from harassment and prevention of unnecessary captivity and death is through the provision of legal rights.

The decision is expected to outlaw the conduct of abusive experiments on these apes and will also prohibit the use of apes in circuses, television commercials and cinema. Zoos will be allowed to continue exhibiting apes, but the conditions of those 350 monkeys will be greatly improved.

  1. Speaking of the rights of the Arabs
It can be said that half of them are almost winless (the women)
While the men have privileges at the expense of the women.

  2. Woof woof
Why should I be censored? I'm allowed to bark too

  3. What happened to the Arabs? They ask for rights, but about obligations such as serving in the army, paying taxes, loyalty to the state and keeping the law (such as the law that prohibits murder and stealing), they are not at all ready to hear.
Now they can move to Spain. I'm sure they will give the apes such a bad name that within a few months this law will be repealed.

  4. One small step for a monkey.
The greatest threat to the great apes, as to the other living creatures in nature, is the serious reduction and damage to their living areas by man due to deforestation and exploitation of natural resources. A representative example of this is the orangutan, which is on the brink of total extinction due to deforestation in Borneo and Sumatra.
And as for the law in Spain, I'm not sure what they meant, if it means no harassment in the wild, then it's a wonderful law, but how will it be applied outside of Spain where there are no apes in the wild. If it means captive monkeys, in my opinion the law is not relevant, because in my opinion great apes should be found in their natural habitat only and not in zoos, circuses and laboratories for experiments.

Will they receive resident rights, citizenship, social security, go to work and send their puppies to school?
    In Spain of course.

  6. To hell with Hunter!

... makes it possible to escape the fulfillment of the law as it is. They will still find ways to circumvent the law.

  7. Roy, in Spanish there is a saying echa la ley, echa la trampa, that is, every hole has some loop that allows you to escape from

  8. The rights that the Arabs receive with us are above and beyond what they deserve.. They educate their children for terrorism

  9. Beauty in Spain monkeys get human rights
And with us, Arabs get the rights of animals

  10. All criminals against apes who are caught in Spain will be tried as criminals against humanity.

  11. It is useful to differentiate between monkeys and apes in the entire article, including the title, and not just in one line of the text.
Also in English these are different animals: a monkey is a monkey and an ape is an ape

  12. to Judah You may not know, but oxen are not hominids.
Hominids eat bulls, maybe you're willing to give up the entrecote, but I'm not.

  13. Roy,
I thought most experiments were done on little monkeys, not great apes. I'm wrong?

  14. I wonder if they understand the full meaning of their ruling. Even if we ignore the literal meaning of the declaration, they want to outlaw experiments on monkeys.

Say hello to Spain's pharmaceutical industry (do they even have one?), and to any university research in Spain that might yield a cure for humans.

  15. The Spaniards are superior to others, we will see them giving equal rights to the bulls fighting in the arena against the toreadors.
