At the honorary fellow degree ceremony of the Jerusalem Academic College of Engineering, the degree was awarded to the former president of the Technion, Prof. Yitzhak Apluig. Among the other reasons for awarding the degree to Prof. Afluig, his belief in the importance of the existence of the college and the necessity of quality training in the field of engineering for the development of Jerusalem was mentioned. During his term as president of the Technion, Prof. Apluig created an academic collaboration between the college and the Technion, which included, among other things, a unique collaboration within the framework of which a department for civil and environmental engineering studies of the Technion was opened within the walls of the college and a unit for continuing studies of the Technion was established in cooperation with the college.

The former president of the Technion, Prof. Yitzhak Apluig, said in his acceptance speech: "The relationship between the college and the Technion was forged due to the high academic level of the college, along with my identification with the main goal of the college, to train personnel in Jerusalem at a high academic and technical level, in order to develop and strengthen the The technological industries in the capital city. We saw this goal as a national mission, and it is fitting that the Technion, which in the past succeeded in turning Haifa into Israel's first high-tech city, and Israel as a whole into a state of high technology, should be involved in its fulfillment and contribute to the strengthening of Jerusalem."

The title of Honorary Fellow is used to honor and show gratitude of the Jerusalem Academic College of Engineering to those who assist and contribute to its work and existence over the years, and is awarded to individuals whose activities are in line with the college's vision and values.
