The oldest profession in the world, even older than humans themselves

Male macaques, especially those of the lower class, had to nurture the females more in order to have more sex with them when the number of females is few

Humans are not the only primates that may pay for sex. Monkeys do this too, according to a new study recently published by Michael Gumert, a researcher in the Department of Psychology at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. In his research, Gommert showed that males of long-tailed cockroaches groom the females in order to win the favor of the female whose fur they cleaned.

The study provided the first evidence of the existence of a social market influencing sexual interactions in non-human primates. Gomrat says and adds: "I found that the investment in grooming the female during intercourse is related to the supply and demand ratio of the number of females for each male.

Gommert discovered that the male monkeys, especially those of the lower class, had to nurture the females more in order to have more sex with them when the number of females was few. Grooming in cockroach monkeys involves using the teeth and hands to poke through the partner's fur and remove dust, straighten tangles and protect the parasites often leads to sexual excitement in the monkeys, especially among the males. It is hypothesized that this activity led to early play in humans.

For the purpose of the study, Gumrat observed a wild population of long-tailed macaques in Tanjung Puting National Park in Indonesia between 2003 and 2005. He recorded 234 male-female grooming sessions during the period, most of which ended in intercourse.

  1. There is a laser, you can clean fur with a diode laser, and precisely with humans there is an interesting simulation also in a restaurant where the man pays the waitress {like the monkeys} but there is a modern phenomenon where women also pay to attract the man. Probably depends on the group we are in and modernization. So at least the monkeys are as smart as humans and we should learn from them. I take my hat off to them.

  2. If you are already making a comparison between monkeys and humans and want to show that there is prostitution in monkeys, you should study a population of monkeys in which there are more or less the same number of males and females. If a *few* females (not necessarily the accepted ones) will have relations in return with most of the monkeys (including those from the lower class *and even the most disgusting ones*) - then we can talk about prostitution.
After all, even in humans, the less successful men have to make more of an effort to get partners. There is nothing new about it.
Besides, maybe the kennels that receive fur cleaning are partially interested in those kennels, even if they are not accepted.
It is necessary to show that Koopa is not interested in a certain monkey, and only thanks to the fact that he will give her something in return (let's say, that the researchers will give him selected foods, which he can give her), she will respond to his courtships. And even then it needs to be a relatively small percentage of the females for it to count as prostitution.

  3. the cool,
In groups of monkeys, there is usually the alpha male, who can mate with all the other females, gets the first right to the food (and chooses the best cuts), sleeps on the most comfortable grass, and so on.
After him there are the 'officers' - males who mate with the females after him, get a second right to the food, etc.
And finally there are the lower ranks, who forbid them to mate with the females (but many times they do it anyway, behind the backs of the leaders) and who receive the food that everyone else left.

So it is easy to see what the status of a certain monkey is.

As for the fur, each to their own taste. There are many Japanese anime fans who will argue with you that fur is sexy. In some societies, (and even today to some extent) men were judged by their beard - and what is a beard if not fur?

    Good Day,

    Roy.

  4. LOL
How do you determine if a monkey is low class?
Are you checking his IQ or if he gets a crack when he bends down to fix the plumbing? lol

I don't know about you, but fur is not sexy..
