About 20 people contracted SARS in Toronto, Canada, a week after the country was removed from the list of countries affected by the disease. Today (Saturday) two people died in the country, probably from the Sars disease. The World Health Organization removed its recommendation not to visit Hong Kong and Guangdong province in China, after they managed to prevent the spread of the disease there. In Taiwan, on the other hand, the infection of the disease continues. Today the government reported that at least ten people have been infected with the disease since yesterday.
Yesterday it was reported that two of the patients were in critical condition. Canada announced that it quarantined the 20 new patients. In Toronto emergency rooms, restrictive regulations were announced to prevent infection, and the state advised hundreds of people to enter a ten-day quarantine until it became clear if they had contracted the disease.
The province of Guangdong in China is considered the center from which the disease first broke out, but in the last month the center of the disease in China moved to the capital, Beijing. However, infection with the disease in China is on the decline. China reported today that 34 more people contracted the disease since yesterday, and five people died from it. Most of the infected are residents of Beijing. In Hong Kong, two more Sars patients died yesterday, and two more were infected with the disease.
