The American Aviation Authority is drafting new rules, according to which the approval of the US government will be required to fly space tourists to the International Space Station or even to provide a route above the Earth as the billionaire Richard Brunson, owner of the Virgin Galactic company, will propose in a few years. Among other things, those interested in flying will undergo intelligence checks to ensure that they are not terrorists. A draft of the new rules shows that the goal is to prevent terrorists from destroying a spacecraft or using it as a weapon. However the rules are not that strict because they will be similar to those that airplane passengers go through.

So far, three space tourists have arrived at the International Space Station in Russian Soyuz spacecraft - Dennis Tito - an American businessman, Mark Athelworth - a high-tech millionaire from South Africa, and Gregory Olsen - another American who is also the owner of a company specializing in space technologies.

The BBC, reporting on this, points out however that the new regulations do not contain a single word about requirements for the health status of the private astronaut.

And in the meantime, the names of the members of the 13th crew of the International Space Station were announced yesterday. The station commander will be the veteran cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov and his assistant will be the American astronaut Jeffrey Williams who will serve as the flight engineer and the station's science officer.
Together with their mother, the Brazilian Air Force officer Marcos Pontes, the first Brazilian astronaut, will also take off into space. Fontes is expected to spend a week conducting experiments on the International Space Station and return to Earth together with the crew members.
