The French may still be lagging behind in the space race and have not sent an astronaut, but when it comes to cuisine, French cuisine stars, and soon, stars too.

The European Space Agency recently turned to a famous French chef, Alain Doux, and asked him to help prepare special meals for astronauts who will spend long periods in space. The people of the agency are interested in Doxa's help, not only to feed their representatives in space with healthy food, but also to lift their spirits with meals made by the hands of a respected chef.

According to the plans, the meals that Doxa will prepare will have to be durable and edible for 1000 days in space. Doxa will have to focus on foods that include the following ingredients: onions, potatoes, rice and lettuce.

The BBC reported that European Space Agency officials defined the idea of preparing meals for astronauts that would remind them of home as an "out of this world" idea.
