Russia and France cooperate in space
Russia and France said last Monday that they had signed an agreement to launch Soyuz rockets from the Kourou space base in French Guinea, which in current information is already known as the Cosmodrome. This is mainly to save on the costs of the launches.
Koro, on the northeastern coast of South America, is much closer to the equator than Russia's permanent base - Baikonur in Kazakhstan. The closer the launch is to the equator, the lower the launch cost - especially for communication satellites.

According to the agreement in principle, the Russians will use Koro, French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raprin said during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kasyanov.
Russia's cash-limited space resources have been more pressed since February since it became the only country capable of sending humans to the International Space Station, due to its grounding of shuttles since the Columbia disaster.
Russia began sending tourists into space at a rate of $20 million per person to cover the cost of building new Soyuz spacecraft. France will pay half of the cost of the project worth 300 million euros, and the rest of the money will come from the European Union. It was reported by the Russian news agency Itar-Tass. Russia will take care of the material matters.
