Questions of how much and why

A scientific professor was invited to give a lecture as part of his reserve service to the canine unit where his grandson works permanently. The subject of the lecture was to be determined by the lecturer, provided that it was related to dogs in some way. Although a science professor is not a veterinarian, and moreover, he is also afraid of dogs, but Dr. Yehoyachin [no relation] is a well-known veterinarian, and it could be that those who approved the lecture were thinking of Dr. Yehoyachin.

The topic of the lecture was determined randomly following the annoying questions of Tartza, his wife of many years, who asked, "How much money will you get for the lecture?", and when he replied that it was a reserve service without compensation, she added and asked - "Why?"

Hence the name of the lecture - "Questions of how much and why".

First of wisdom, the professor opened the Ibn Shoshan dictionary, where he discovered that "Lama" is a kind of camel without a hump, and immediately connected it to the common dog, which also, as we know, does not have a hump. It was also explained to him that the abode of the llama camel is in South America.

As for the word "how much" - the professor found in the dictionary that it means "longing, yearning, yearning".

This information did not help the science professor at all in preparing his lecture.

The professor divided the lecture into two parts:

First part - why
Upon entering the lecture hall, he distributed questions as follows:

n Why does the dog drink water when it is thirsty?

Hess was thrown in the hall; No one knew the answer, until the professor answered himself and said - "because he is thirsty".

n Why are taller people better at playing basketball?

- because they are tall.

n Why does everyone love good Sarah?

- because she is good.

Later, the enthusiasm of the audience increased to such an extent that the wise among them came up with questions of this type independently, although they did not always know what the answers were.

Part two - how much
n How much is a quarter of a half? - the professor asked the canine public, and the answer was, of course, eight.

n and how much is half a quarter? Again the answer was eight.

n How much is a fifth of a sixth? – added the professor to make it difficult. And the answer was correct - one in thirty.

n and how much is a sixth of a fifth? The [correct] answer is again one in thirty.

n Which is bigger - a third of a quarter, or a quarter of a third? The answer: the same.

n And what is greater: a third of five, or a fifth of three? The dogs answered in chorus: "The same thing!" But the respondents fell into the trap set for them by the science professor, and were surprised to find out after calculating, some using paper and pencil, and some using a calculator - that one-third of five is greater than one-fifth of three by a considerable margin...

Why?

So.
