"Smart even at night" updates for the national science evening on 19/9

The Ministry of Science, Culture and Sports announces the existence of a national event under the title: "Smart even at night". The event will take place on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in Elul, 17, starting at 00:XNUMX, and will include fascinating meetings with scientists, night tours on science and nature, and many other diverse activities suitable for the whole family will take place at the following research institutions:

The activities are held under the auspices of the European Union, which once a year organizes this activity (known in Europe as "Scientists' Night") all over Europe, which is designed to bring the general public closer to the scientists and arouse their interest in the various science topics. The event in Europe takes place on September 22, but because of Rosh Hashanah it was brought forward and will take place in Israel on September 19.

According to the Minister of Science, Culture and Sports, Mr. Ofir Pines, who will participate in the opening of the event at Bar-Ilan University, the event of "wise men even at night" will bring science to the public's awareness, and especially to the youth - the scientists of tomorrow. The CEO of the office, Mr. Eitan Brushi, will participate in the events that will be held at the Science Museum and the Technion in Haifa.

The Science Museum and the Technion in Haifa invite the public to get to know the scientists in slippers, watch the stars, taste science (science in food) and listen to the sounds of science. Tel Aviv University invites you to lectures on time, mind and science. Bar-Ilan University will host a science fair that includes scientific lectures and demonstrations, tours and demonstrations in selected laboratories, meetings with scientists, experimental physics workshops and observations in the planetarium. At the Science Museum in Jerusalem, there will be fascinating lectures on science topics in addition to the exhibitions that exist in the museum. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites you to night safaris - a tour following nocturnal animals and bats, to lectures on glamorous topics, to guided viewing of telescopes into distant space and guided tours of the laboratories of the Authority for Community and Youth in Givat Ram. The Weizmann Institute of Science invites the public to the "Science Coffee" meetings in Rishon Lezion, Nes-Ziona, Rehovot, Ashdod, Gedera and more, for special nighttime activities and workshops, to Klor Science Park for additional activities. MiGal - the Upper Galilee Knowledge Center - will hold diverse activities in the Galilee on the issues of environmental quality and biotechnology - in Kiryat Shmona, on the promenade on the banks of the Jordan, at Tel Hai College, as well as meetings with scientists in cafes, where the scientists will talk about modern cosmetics, genetics and the life of a scientist in the Galilee .
