The Technology Incubator Committee, headed by the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Eli Ofer, approved at its last meeting nine new projects in the fields of medical devices, software and biotechnology.

Medical devices: analysis of brain CT images. The Technion Incubator, Haifa.

A light and portable sedative for the population suffering from attention disorders. Hamma L.N., Haifa Bay.
A new procedure for the treatment of the mitral valve in the heart. Incentive incubator, Ariel.
Femoral implant for the hip joint. Targettech incubator, Netanya.
Decalcification of aortic valve stenosis. MITB Greenhouse, Kiryat Shmona.
Software: a system for the automatic implementation of complex software systems. Hamma Am-Shev, Sde Boker; Software for finding faults in computer systems. Hamma Niyot, Yakneam; A system for tracking recording and billing of Video VOIP. NGT Incubator, Nazareth.

Biotechnology:
Cannabinoid quinone type anti-cancer substances. MITB Greenhouse, Kiryat Shmona.

Dr. Eli Ofer, the chief scientist, noted that after a three-year freeze in which greenhouses were not privatized, two greenhouses were privatized and they are: L.N. Entrepreneurship from Haifa Bay and Kinneret from Zemach. These incubators are added to 12 additional incubators that were privatized in 2002-2003 and today, out of 24 technological incubators, 14 are privatized incubators, 1 is a biotechnological incubator that is also managed as a privatized incubator and only 9 incubators are managed as non-profit organizations. Dr. Ofer added that more greenhouses are being tested by institutional and private investors for the purposes of privatization and it is not impossible that more greenhouses will be privatized in the near future.

Renee Pridor, director of the incubator program, stated that in the first half of 2006, 94 incubator companies and incubator graduates raised over 115 million dollars, with 51 companies raising over 40 million dollars in the first fundraising round alone.

Also, Pridor specifically mentioned Hamma Am-Shev from Sde Boker for its commercialization achievements. In the last 12 months, data communication companies that matured from the incubator managed to raise over 15 million dollars in the first fundraising round alone. The Imagine company, which deals in special developments in the fields of VOD and IPTV, has raised 9.2 million dollars from the Carmel and Columbia Capital funds. Athos, which develops Ethernet-based communication switches for metro networks, has raised $6 million from the Evergreen and Vortex venture capital funds.

The research committee chaired by the chief scientist at TMT, Dr. Eli Ofer, which met on August 15.08.06, 16, approved 47 new R&D programs with a total investment of NIS 20.3 million, of which NIS XNUMX million are R&D grants from the chief scientist's budgets .

In the field of communication, the committee approved 3 projects with an investment of NIS 11.7 million (out of a requested investment of NIS 18.9 million), with state grants amounting to NIS 4.7 million.

In the fields of electronics and medical equipment, the committee approved 7 projects with an investment volume of 17.7 million (out of a requested investment volume of NIS 27 million) while state grants totaled NIS 8.2 million.

In the fields of biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals, 5 projects were approved with an investment of NIS 14.9 million (out of a requested budget of NIS 19.4 million), with state grants totaling NIS 6.4 million.

In the field of software, the committee approved one project with an investment of NIS 2.7 million (out of a requested investment of NIS 4.8 million) and a state grant of NIS 1.1 million.

Among the projects approved by the committee, 2 projects are in the framework of international cooperation - one project in cooperation with France, a second project in cooperation with Sweden. The projects were approved with an investment of NIS 3.4 million, the chief scientist's grants amounted to NIS 1.4 million.

Since the beginning of 2006, the research committee has discussed 74 projects as part of international cooperation submitted by 69 companies with a total investment of NIS 157.3 million.

The committee approved 37 projects with an investment of NIS 63.4 million, the research grants amounted to NIS 28.3 million.
