The weak interactive parts - most of the dark matter

This is what a number of British physicists claim

We may finally find an explanation for the essence of the "dark matter" in the universe - so claim British physicists. In their estimation, the time is near when a mind-boggling explanation will be given about the essence of the mysterious subatomic particles that make up the dark half of the universe.
According to the researchers, the "weak interactive particles" make up 90-99% of the dark matter of the universe - the material that is invisible because it does not emit light.
One of the theories is that the dark (or black) matter contains subatomic particles, which have not yet been discovered and which were created in the "big bang" - the moment when the universe was formed in a huge explosion.
The aforementioned particles fill the space and connect the galaxies, which are made up of stars.
A team from the University of Sheffield, led by Or-Neil Spooner, used ultra-sensitive sensors. They detected "interesting" signals coming from the deepest salt mine in Europe, a mine in Ballovey in northern England, where the first signs of the weak particles were discovered.
"Until now we have no explanation for the signals," said Spooner. "The question that can be asked is: 'Have we found weakly interactive particles?' The answer is: 'not yet'. Obviously, the particles are unpredictable. Interestingly, another group of researchers observed similar events at the same level. That's why we are excited."
Spooner pointed out that additional research work and more advanced equipment is needed to solve the mystery. The underground site was chosen to perform the experiments, because if the sensors were placed on the ground, they would detect other particles - cosmic rays or natural radioactivity. In order to detect the weak interactive particles, it was required that the underground sensors be surrounded by a protective material - and in the mine it was distilled water. Its great depth blocked the penetration of cosmic rays. And the water prevented the natural activity of the rock stones.
The scientists say that the dark matter exists, because without the influence of its gravity - the universe itself would not exist.
