At the Judea and Samaria College, a method was developed that by examining a simple heart rate, problems arising from the diseases diabetes, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, schizophrenia, cardiology problems, and effective drug treatment can be identified.
The medical "start-up" is the result of the research of Prof. Jacob Levitan and Prof. Meir Lebkowitz who developed a technique based on the "chaos" theory known in the fields of physics and mathematics, the method that tests the autonomic nervous system, recently received the approval of the American FDA and was registered As a patent following a test that was conducted on about 500 subjects in collaboration with cardiologists from Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital. The method is already in use in clinics in Denmark and Israel.

One of the functions of the autonomic nervous system is to control the heart rate, the heart does not beat at a fixed frequency, there is a natural variability of the rate. When we have to perform physical work, the heart rate increases to provide the required amount of oxygen to the muscles, the increases and decreases are usually under control, however there are situations in which this control is impaired mainly due to certain diseases or different reactions to drugs such as drugs to regulate heart rate or to lower blood pressure. There are diseases that damage the autonomic control system without drug intervention such as diabetes, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, schizophrenia, and all cardiological problems such as cardiac arrest, etc., damage to the control system as a result of these diseases can be detected using the new method. The method is non-invasive and takes less than an hour, during which the heart rate is measured, when at the end the attending physician transfers the test data to an information center, the test result is received by e-mail within a few seconds.

As part of the research, the start-up company "Lev-El" was established, owned by the Yehuda and Samaria Academic College, the businessman Henry Zimand, the "Ofer Brothers" company, and the research scientists Prof. Yaakov Levitan and Prof. Meir Levkowitz. Recently, an agreement was signed between the company "Lev El" and one of the largest fitness club chains in the city of Manchester in England, which includes about 50,000 subscribers. Using the new test technique, the chain of fitness clubs tests its new customers to rule out hidden cardiological problems that could endanger the lives of those involved in sports due to failure to detect the problem early. With the new method, it is possible to prevent such cases and even save lives.
