An increase in the demand for workers in the field of life sciences

And another Biotech Israel conference: the field of life sciences continues to grow, also in demand for professional personnel, for the third year in a row. In the first half of 2006 there was an increase of about 7% in the demand for workers in the field of life sciences compared to the corresponding period in 2005, and an increase of 30% compared to the corresponding period in 2004, according to a survey conducted by the Manpower company especially in preparation for the Biomed Israel 2006 conference that will end today, May 31. In the Congress Center, in the Nation Buildings in Jerusalem.

"An indication of the development of a market is also the degree of competition in it," says Sheli Sa'ar, manager of Manpower Professional, which specializes in names in the field of biotech, executives and finance from the Manpower Group. "We recognize such competition in the biotech market through the increase in demand for marketing and sales positions at all levels of the organization - propagandists, sales managers and marketing managers." According to Sa'ar, the demand for workers can also clearly be seen in the development of the medical equipment industry, which currently accounts for 40% of the life sciences industry in Israel.

"Another indicator of the boom in the field can be seen in the increase in demand for quality assurance and regulatory positions, due to the preparation of companies to comply with international standards, which indicates an intention to enter new markets."

"In the past year, 11 companies in the field of life sciences were issued on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange; This figure, in addition to the figures we mentioned, indicates that the field of biotech in Israel will continue to develop in the coming years as well."

The events of the "BioMed 2006" week that will be held this year between May 29-31 at the Nation Buildings in Jerusalem will include an exhibition, in which exhibitors from Israel and the world will participate, and during the three days of conferences accompanying the exhibition, topics such as: the field of cardiology and its latest developments, future medicines after 2010 and more will be discussed.
