Tremendous achievements for the Israeli national teams in 4 international science olympiads held at the same time - 18 Olympic medals

3 gold medals for Omari Zemer (mathematics), Roitel Welch (physics) and Nir Cohen (chemistry) * Roitel Welch - from the physics team is the first student to win a gold medal and was ranked as the student with the highest achievement in the field of physics * Nega Friedman - from the mathematics team won a silver medal and was announced as a student Outstanding in the entire continent of Asia * The State of Israel participated this year for the first time in the International Olympiad in Biology

The four Israeli national teams that competed in the last few days at the same time in the International Science Olympiads: in physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology, reached tremendous achievements and brought enormous pride to the Israeli education system and the entire State of Israel. Every year Israel's science teams compete in the International Olympiads, and this year for the first time the Israeli biology team represented Israel in the Olympics. The Israeli computer science team is expected to represent Israel in the Olympics next month (August)

Israel's science team members won 18 Olympic medals - 3 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 7 bronze medals.

The Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists of the Maimonides Foundation are leading the training of Israel's science teams for participation in the International Olympiads as part of a joint venture. Each talented team is at a different academic institution. 

In the International Mathematical Olympiad IMO- The team was trained at the Weizmann Institute of Science And all the members of the team won medals - a gold medal, 4 silver medals and a bronze medal. Nega Friedman, a member of the team, won a silver medal and was chosen as the outstanding student in the entire continent of Asia.

at the International Physics Olympiad IPHONE- The team was trained at the Husidman Center at Ben Gurion University in the Negev And all the members of the team won medals - a gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Roital Velach - the first Israeli student to win a gold medal in the Physics Olympiad and was ranked as the student with the highest achievement.

In the International Olympiad in Biology IBO- The team was trained at Tel Aviv University for Youth and the Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University. The team members won 3 medals: a silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

at the International Olympiad in Chemistry ICHO- The team was trained at the Shulich Faculty of the Technion And all the members of the team won medals: A gold medal, a silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

The International Mathematical Olympiad IMO

The IMO International Mathematics Olympiad was held this year for the 63rd time (Israel has participated in the Olympiad since 1979) in Oslo, Norway. This year, 583 participants from 104 countries took part in the Olympics. All members of the Israeli math team won medals! A gold medal, 4 silver medals and a bronze medal.

The student team that participated in the Math Olympiad was trained at the Weizmann Institute of Science under the leadership of the academic director, Prof. Avraham Isenbod, the head coach, Lev Radzivilovski, the head of the delegation, Dr. Dan Karmon and the team of coaches: Shahar Friedman, Daniel Kaner and Guy Capon.

The Israeli team in mathematics:

Omri Zemar- First grade urban student, from Modi'in - Maccabim - Reut - winner of a gold medal.

Nega Friedman- De Shalit High School student, from Rehovot - winner of a silver medal and a special award for being selected as the outstanding student in Asia.

Uri Frankel- Student of Yeshiva Tikhunit Torah and Science, from Jerusalem - winner of a silver medal.

Itamar Nir- De Shalit High School student, from Rehovot - silver medal winner.

Yair that they are- Ben Gurion High School student, Manes Ziona - silver medal winner.

Guy Ostfeld- Shimon Ben Zvi high school student, from Givatayim - bronze medal winner.

The International Olympiad in Physics IPHONE

The IPHO International Physics Olympiad was held this year for the 55th time (Israel has participated in the Olympiad since 1994) led by Switzerland online. This year, 370 participants from 74 countries took part in the Olympics. The Israeli team was tested from Denmark. All members of the Israeli physics team won medals! Gold medal, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.

The student team that participated in the Physics Olympiad was trained at the Husidman Center for Science-Seeking Youth at Ben Gurion University of the Negev under the leadership of the academic director, Prof. Oleg Krichevsky, the head coach, Pavel Radzivilovsky and the coaching staff: Assaf Rosen and Eyal Valach.

Revital and go- A student of the Rabbi's studio in Haran, from Moroshet - winner of a gold medal and ranked as the student with the highest achievement.

Nadav Ron- Golda Meir high school student, Petach Tikva - winner of a silver medal.

Jacob Friedman- De Shalit High School student, from Rehovot - silver medal winner.

Ron Levy- Mosheva high school student, from Zikrhon Ya'akov - bronze medal winner.

Noam Lihani- Lydia high school student, from Jerusalem - bronze medal winner.

The International Olympiad in Chemistry ICHO

The ICHO International Chemistry Olympiad was held this year for the 54th time (Israel has participated in the Olympiad since 2006), led by China online. This year, 326 participants from 84 countries took part in the Olympics. All members of the Israeli team in chemistry: a gold medal, a silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

The Israeli chemistry team was trained at the Shulich Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion under the leadership of the academic director Prof. Zeev Gross, the head coach Dr. Izna Nigel-Ettinger and the coaching staff: Dr. Assaf Ma'oda, Alex Korontov and Dr. Gabriela Halevi.

Nir Cohen- A student of the Real Gymnasium Rashalz, Manteam - a gold medal winner.

Neta David Eiger- A high school student in Shaked Darcha Emek Ma'ain, from Kibbutz Tirat Zvi - winner of a silver medal.

Tal Sassoon- A student of Gavol High School, from Hadera - a bronze medal winner.

Shawn Hantz- Student of Kiryat Shinoch Rabin, Magen Yavneh - bronze medal winner.

The International Olympiad in Biology IBO

The IBO International Biology Olympiad has been held since 1990 and this year Israel participated in it for the first time in Armenia. 248 participants from 62 countries took part in the Olympics. The team won a silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

The Israeli team in biology was trained at Tel Aviv Youth University and the Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University under the leadership of the academic director: Prof. Abdelsalam Azzam (Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences), the head coaches: Dr. Yair Pozniak and Dr. Yuval Nesh and the coaching staff: Rim Abu Ras, Debsha Sher, Shay Ader, Oren Gozlan and Shira Landman.

Hillel Brendel- A student of the fifth urban high school, from Tel Aviv - a bronze medal winner

Ron Elon- A student of the Kfar Hirok school, from Ramat Hasharon - a bronze medal winner

Amit Gosol- First year high school student, from Herzliya

The global pandemic poses additional challenges for the participants, but happily the members of the delegation were finally able to participate this year in a face-to-face competition, which included a practical test and proved to themselves and to us that investment pays off! The Israeli students are hardworking and talented, and the Olympics are an opportunity for them to demonstrate high academic abilities and gain experience for their integration into the academic world. I warmly congratulate the winners and their families for their impressive achievements in the two international competitions."

The Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University and the academic head, Prof. Abd Azam: "The Israeli team in biology reached a particularly impressive achievement of 3 Olympic medals, the very first time it competed in the international Olympics.

I am proud of our talented young people who presented in the competition a very high level of knowledge and proficiency in the field. This is also the opportunity to thank the team of Tel Aviv University for Youth who, in cooperation with the senior lecturers from the Faculty of Life Sciences, prepared the team in the best possible way and gave them the professional tools, which, beyond the competition, will help them a lot further down the road, as leaders in academia and industry."
