About "Bug" by Jules Verne

The book is based on the well-known fact that those who travel in the direction of the East around the entire Kadhooa return as if it were yesterday. However, from reading the book, one gets the impression that this only happens when he returned to the place from which he left, so that Phileas Fogg, who left London, returned to yesterday only when he returned to London and not when he crossed the international date line

The fiction writer Jules Verne was known for his strict adherence to scientific accuracy, among other things, every book before it was published he would go over it several times to check that there was no scientific error in it (so says Uriel Ofek in one of the books from the series "From Robinson to Lobengolo").
Nevertheless, in the book that in my opinion is the most successful of his pen "Around the World in 80 Days" I found an interesting geographical error and as far as I know no one has overcome it to this day.
The book is based on the well-known fact that those who travel in the direction of the East around the entire Kadhooa return as if it were yesterday. However, reading the book gave the impression that this only happened when he returned to the place from which he left, so that Phileas Fogg, who left London, returned to the day before yesterday only when he returned to London.
In fact, there is an agreed international date line that when you cross it from west to east you have to change the day back, this line as you know runs in the Pacific Ocean between Asia and America. So Mr. Phileas Fogg had to change the day when he traveled from Japan to the western shores of the USA.
It doesn't matter even if the exact location of the line was determined then because in any case it had to be determined there because the Asian day preceded the American day even though Asia is west of America.
Of course, it is possible that indeed Phileas Fogg was already in America wrong about the day and when everyone thought that today was Sunday he thought it was already Monday, but how is it possible that the ship that was supposed to leave the USA for Liverpool at 10 at night on the 11th of the month had already left due to the delay of three quarters of an hour, If in fact the real date was only the night of the 10th of the month?
