The added value of visionaries

It is worth considering entrepreneurs and visionaries who sometimes see decades ahead

People who present some kind of vision, their goal is to convey any message to the society in which they live. The message can be a social and economic world view or an innovative scientific and technological view. Usually the reference to these innovators is that they are unrealistic and live somewhere in the clouds. In this approach, towards the innovators There is some truth, but it is only partial. The reason for this lies in the fact that their opinions are not applicable according to the existing concepts, but can be possible based on the new concept they present. Even if these innovators are indeed in the clouds, this has its own advantage and that is that their horizon of vision is greater than those on the ground. They look to greater distances. While those on the ground see two or three steps ahead, those in a higher position can see ten steps ahead. Therefore, if the man of action thinks in tactical terms, the man of vision thinks in strategic terms.

The visionaries, due to their ability to look decades ahead, are futuristically oriented. If they are also gifted with a charismatic and decisive personality, they can sweep crowds behind them and bring about far-reaching changes in the society they live in, be it social, economic changes, or both. The visionaries, if they operate in society which is at an economic and/or social low or both, with the strength of their personality can give the company led by them an unusual momentum, take it out of its predicament and pull it to mountain peaks. What these visionaries are actually doing is setting a goal before the led society, arousing a personal and value commitment towards the presented goal and giving a feeling that the masses have value and thus the individual will rise in their own eyes, in the eyes of their families and in the eyes of the environment in which they operate. Their self-confidence and trust in themselves will rise.

A historical example and not far from our time is the statement of US President John Kennedy that by the end of the 60s of the 20th century the US would land a man on the moon. Indeed, when the Apollo program was at its peak, the US space agency employed three million people The realization of a vision of this magnitude, due to its innovative component caused a chain reaction. The technological innovations that were necessary for this mission soon found additional uses such as the development of new metallurgical materials, the improvement of satellite communication methods, medical applications of space medicine and space medical technology. The result of all these is new factories, new consumer products, new markets, etc. The added economic value of a vision has a cumulative effect that can bring a society out of an economic depression into unprecedented prosperity. It is not difficult to guess what will happen if the American president announces the landing of a man on Mars within 10 years as a national goal.
The vision should in no way be treated as something that is ethereal with zero chances of realization, but as an economic investment for generations.
